Why all the NASCAR Heat posts?

Renewed interest in NASCAR Heat

A returning reader asked why NASCAR Heat was suddenly popular. Replies cited its final patch, a new GTP mod, its decent road-course online play, and interest in it as a preview of EA's NASCAR Thunder after Papyrus announced the end of its NASCAR series. Posters clarified that NASCAR Thunder 2003 was developed by Tiburon on ISI's F1 2002 engine.

Just an innocent question. Been away a few days, come back and NH is all the rage. What did I miss? Mark Reading, UK
Just a spike in interest due to the release of the final patch...And some new mods like the just released GTP mod. A couple of leagues still use Heat, it probably has the 2nd best online module, at least for Road Racing. The lack of online yellows really cramps the oval racing to just sprints. dave henrie "Mark" <[email hidden]> wrote in message news:[email hidden]... > Just an innocent question. For me it was/is because of the big news. The end of NASCAR sims for Papy. I'm revisting Heat as a preview of NASCAR Thunder. Since Thunder is basicly Heat 2 I was checking things out to see if it would be worth buying Thunder. MadDAWG

I think maybe Luke Phillips might have just gotten the game. 5 out of 6 of the NH posts from the past few days were started by him. JB
you actually need to be checking out that and F1 2002. The company doing the physics are the same ones as F12002 as far as I know and it will probably be more akined to that ... I have Heat in the drawer while F12002 would cost me money to buy. MadDAWG
Maybe I just crawled out from under a rock but what did you say? The end of NASCAR sims for Papy? What are the details, I didn't find anything that firm with a google search. Papy has said that the next release will be the Finale' in the series for them. They are going to move on to other projects. No word as to whether that means Gaming Consoles, or other styles of programming for the PC. LOL! F1 2002 is worth the $29 ... It is being developed by Tiburion (who also do the Madden series) and is based on ISI's engine from F1 2002. Jason ----- GPLRank 24.50 N2002Rank -12.995
The producer is a former MGI person, I think that's why MadDAWG made the connection. Actually I think he is also a former Papy person... "jason moyer" <[email hidden]> wrote in message news:[email hidden]...

Speaking of Luke, I spent several hours last night trying to help him get a mod running. For some reason when he install the native Nascar Heat it moves the sub folder INSIDE the run folder instead of along-side it inside the main Nascar Heat folder. Gotta hook up again and see if he's figured out what is causing that. dave henrie "JB" <[email hidden]> wrote in message news:alqbri$re4$[email hidden]... > I think maybe Luke Phillips might have just gotten the game. 5 out of 6of > the NH posts from the past few days were started by him. > > JB > >

It's Ed "we'll release a patch to fix the online yellow problem" Martin. By the time he's done at EA, Tiburion will probably have to deal with as much unwarranted criticism as MGI has. In the short time that he stayed with Nascar Heat after its release, he managed to alienate 2/3 of the fanbase by promising things that MGI had never planned on implementing. Also, I believe Ed worked for the publisher, Hasbro, and not MGI, just as he works for Electronic Arts now and not Tiburion or ISI. Jason ----- GPLRank 24.50 N2002Rank -12.995

His copy of NH puts the setup, replay, record, & paint folders inside the run folder. While mine and everyone else's that I've checked (after running the no-cd patch) has the run folder grouped with those same folders, all nested inside the main NH folder...does that make more sense?? dave henrie(oy vey!)
"Phillip Malphrus Jr" <[email hidden]> wrote in message news:[email hidden]... > LOL! > > F1 2002 is worth the $29 ... For most people it probably is. I had f1200, and f12001 and I never really played them much so I don't see the need to buy f12002. I did find last a mod in the works for Thunder that just about sealed the deal for me buying Thunder. ASA Thunder. :) MadDAWG
2002 is a big leap over the previous versions. Marc "MadDAWG" <[email hidden]> wrote in message news:[email hidden]...
