What's an "HBP"? I kinda know who Roger (?) Clemens and Barry Bonds are, despite not being a baseball fan, but HBP has me stumped.
Hit By Pitch. He hit him in the elbow in June. I'm a Mets fan, so naturally I must hate Clemens. -- Clemens, Pre-Bonds HBP "I will introduce myself pretty quick, [to] that big old piece of plastic he has on his elbow." I don't hate him any more than I hate ALL baseball players who take up valuable TV time from the important sports: hockey, bike racing, and car racing. I'm happy the Expos are leaving, now if the Blue Jays will just do the same there won't be any more baseball on Canadian TV :)

YES! Hockey fans are present! :) I can't wait till the season starts. It's been too long since I've seen some on-ice action. Only a few more weeks to go... Let's go Sharks! ----------------------------------------- Dan Belcher Webmaster, http://simcrash.fameflame.dk

Well then I suppose that you know what the big CH symbol on the ice stands for. Elrikk

>"elrikk" <[email hidden]> wrote > Well then I suppose that you know what the big CH symbol on the ice stands > for. Well knowing that for us French in Qubec is like an American knowing his national anthem ;) It's actually CHC, not CH. There is two C's superposed together in different colours, meaning "Le Club de Hockey Canadien". The fable about the "H" meaning "Habs" started in the 20's when a reported falsely informed that it stood for "Habitant", which is a french word for the farmers and rural people of Qubec. Back then, the players of the Canadiens were mostly French people from outside of Montreal, while the Montreal Maroons were the team with English players from Montreal. So the French would shout "Go Habs Go!" and it's now still used! -- -- Franois Mnard <ymenard> -- http://www.ymenard.8m.com/ -- This announcement is brought to you by the Shimago-Dominguez Corporation - helping America into the New World...

I actually should know better at my age. Knew everything you said except the part about how they got to be called "Les Habs". Thanks. Elrikk
