GPLEA releases updated BRM model for GPL
Roger Squires announced that GPLEA had released its updated BRM car model for Grand Prix Legends, which drew praise for the cockpit and mirrors. A quip about the BRM driving like a truck was taken by Jan Verschueren as an insult to the add-on, sparking a squabble, especially with Conga, before Jan apologised.
Automated summary.

It's an amazing piece of work, well worth the wait.
I've never been a fan of the BRM but getting the new model motivated be to
try a couple of laps at Nurby and my first full lap knocked nearly 15
seconds off my MOG!
I had a similar gain when the Honda was released, but I really do hate that
b***y thing!
The mirrors really do look like they've just been wiped with a greasy cloth,
but I think it restricts the view a bit too much. The subtle fingerprints on
the 23v Ferrari were spot on imo.

Footnote: I hate _driving_ the Honda. The GPLEA update is fab ;-)

Thank you for your opinion. Got anything useful to add as well?

Indeed Ronny, implying releasing updated graphics for the BRM was silly. At
least that's how I interpreted it.

I added the footnote to my own post about the Honda precisely because
someone might mis-interpret it to think I didn't like the Honda update.
Frankly, I think you overreacted. Why would you assume that someone would
think that a graphics update (good or bad) would affect the handling of any
car in gpl, when it's pretty well known that there are no 'extra' cars
publicly available for gpl. It was just a joke, and a funny one too.
I reckon the new BRM has reduced the wheel count to around 13 or 14, based
on my time at the 'ring ;-)

(Done - GPLStat. So I'm immune from that one!)
Eh? I don't see any criticism of the addon from jgd there, only of
the BRM itself - and the GPLEA heavn't changed any physics, have
they?

It pushed my button, for sure. I happen to like driving the BRM in GPL, but
I'll admit it's too slow to use in serious competition.
It appeared to me the poster did not think the BRM worthy of a graphics
update, thereby devaluating the effort of the GPLEA team.
Anyhow, I don't think my reprisal was over the top, actually. If that's over
the top people in here have gotten touchy over the last week or so. <g>

Actually I've never heard of him (or her, or them, or it) - I just
think you were a little unfair in your original comment.

I have no idea who he is and it doesn't matter. Some people like the BRM,
some don't. I prefer the Cooper myself, which is one of the less updated
cars, and until a month or so ago I was using the plain jane original one.
As a personal sacrifice, however, I'm reluctantly forcing myself to drive
the terrible, terrible Lotus all season in UKGPL ;-)
I had some glitches with other Lotus updates so I've stuck with the 1.02
GPLEA one. I remember thinking it looked amazing when it came out, but
compared to the latest ones it's really basic, but still way better than
anything I could do myself ;-)
I don't think it's polite to criticise any of the effort people put into the
gpl community in whatever form it takes, but inevitably some stuff is
better, and some people work harder, but it's pretty much all free, so in
value for money terms, it's all equal, and so are the people. Except for
railriders, obviously ;-)

By general consensus it was determined I've misinterpreted your comment and
that therefore my initial response was unwarranted and over the top.
I take it back and apologise. Your opinion on the BRM noted and respected.

Care to list your accomplishments in life? Care to explain why you feel
superior to me? -I'm just your average guy getting by, no question, but I
ain't too proud to admit it. Who are you to hide behind a pseudonym and
judge my life/persona?

I think I do fine... how's your Dutch? Or French? Or German? Who are you to
criticize my English in a post containing "your" instead of "you're"?
I'll tell you what you are: a troll, and a mediocre one at that. I backed
out of my original reply because I don't want bad blood hanging around
between myself and other regular posters.
You, I don't mind about... take your best shot.

Well my first language is English & I have completely missed the 'underlying
humour' in your post.
ime BRM drivers are usually a pretty light-hearted bunch, but having raced
the damned thing myself on occasion, I can appreciate they may have alot of
built up anger ;-)

Conga's not a troll, and neither are you. There's enough fools out there
playing GP4 already without GPLers having a go at each other.

Eh... I play GP4, Malc. Not saying I'm immune to it's shortcomings, but I do
play it. <g>
Conga is being an ass about things, IMO, and giving a damn good impression
of being a troll. He either eats the nobody and English comment like I ate
the BRM comment or continues to be on the wrong side with me.
