To anyone who cares, if you are having issues with GP4 crashing and exhibiting behavior such as locking up with sound screeching away, or rebooting the PC, I recently found that I no longer have this problem after turning off the onboard audio (soundmax with spx) on my Intel D850EMV2 motherboard and installing a Creative Labs Audigy 2 Platinum. I'd read earlier that someone else had fixed their crashing gp4 by dumping a cheap sound card and going with a SB Live or something similar. Apparently he wasn't the only one with a non-GP4-friendly sound card.
