After painting up a hi Rez template car for N2002, I realize that you can't just import the TGA file. Is there any guides out on the net that explain how to do this ?

Sure you can, just copy your tga file to the exports_imports folder, go into opponent manager, and paint shop, choose import and voila! -- Biz "Don't touch that please, your primitive intellect wouldn't understand alloys and compositions and,......things with molecular structures,....and the....." - Ash DB <[email hidden]> wrote in message news:[email hidden]... > After painting up a hi Rez template car for N2002, I realize that you > can't just import the TGA file. You cant do that, because the game just resizes it to 512x512 when you import it. You need to convert it to a mip file. There's a tutorial on the Sierra forum under nascar 2002 season/painting discussion. I dont remember all of the particulars off the top of my head. I do know it has to be in mip format though. T.K. I believe that just disables texture compression. I dont think it will allow a 1024x1024 texture to be imported. Tony "Joachim Trensz" <[email hidden]> wrote in message news:arosld$klekd$[email hidden]...

And just setting [Paintkit] save_textures_with_compression=0 doesn't do the trick? Because that's what was being said in the beginning. It won't allow you to import a 1024, but when you import your quality 512 tga to a car, then save it with this setting, it will look like the tga you painted, not blurred. -- Tim White www.intracmotorsports.com "Tony Kelley" <[email hidden]> wrote in message news:wZSD9.6186$[email hidden]... Thanks Tony, I found a tutorial in Sierra's forum section. You're right Tony. Unless the file is converted to a .mip then you're just resizing your file to 512x512 and losing the benefit of the hi res car. "Tony Kelley" <[email hidden]> wrote in message news:wZSD9.6186$[email hidden]...

Is there any guides out on the net that > explain how to do this ? Get yourself WinMip2. Open an existing car file with its carfile editor. Click on "Import Car Texture". Choose the color depth (24-bit, 24-bit compressed, 16-bit). Save the car file. The texture has to be in bmp format. Any size is accepted as long as the width and height are a power of 2. Keep in mind that a 1024x1024 uncompressed 24-bit texture eats up 3 MB of texture RAM while a compressed 2048x2048 texture needs only 2 MB and may look better! Klaus
