GTR 2002 Cockpit View?

I just wondered if there were any surprises in the forthcoming GT Mod for F1-2002, like maybe a cockpit view? I did hear from Ian Bell a couple of months ago that 3D cockpits were not going to happen - but will there be any way to drive from behind the wheel? Maybe with just a basic cockpit we can get the artists in the sim racing world to do their own. I just can't get excited about all these realistic physics and polygons if I have to race from behind the car... - Dave Cook

hmmm I missed that. I think tho what he meant was no fully modeled 3d cockpit that will eat up frame-rate. Every Mod so far has had cockpits. They showed a WIP cockpit shot several months ago when they released the alpha version of Laguna Seca. IIRC it's generally been their practice not to release cockpit shots until after the release to give people a nice surprise. =) Jason

I was forced to edit the viewpoints in the FIA GT V3 mod. The standard cockpit view just wasn't up to scratch. I wasn't able to create a better view from inside the car, so I ended up making a custom bonnet (hood) view which was a decent compromise. Naturally I'd prefer to be inside the car, but not when I can only see 1 square inch of track which simply isn't realistic.
