Okay.....fresh reformat......fresh install...from a zipped copy (dog "ate"
my CD) and it won't work. I get fatal errors trying to run the exe and I am
missing some .dll file (msvbvm60.dll). My 3d config crashes, my F1 2002
exe crashes.........makes all my GTR2002 exe's crash as well......any ideas
guys?? I did a whole new reformat especially for this game and now I can't
even get the original to work? I WANNA PLAY !!!!!!!

Did you try running F12002 straight up before adding the MOD?? Or did you
just install OS, F12002, and GTR2002 and then tried to play?
It could be your zipped copy. Zipping up a game for archiving isn't the best
way to archive a retail copy of a game. Did you zip the directory after it
was installed? Did you zip the whole CD?
Since your dog ate the CD, why don't you jump on a filesharing program, and
download yourself a new copy of it. Get the .bin/.cue version. Rumour has it
that it won't work if you burn it to a CD, and you have to "mount" the
.bin/.cue onto your harddrive usind Daemon Tools and then install off of it.
Since you bought a copy of it, I see no harm.

msvbvm60.dll is a VB6 runtime file. Should be available at Microsoft's
site.

There is a better way, for the enlightened.

I had run my game previously to the reformat........with a fixed .exe I
loaded the base game first and tried running it before installing the mod,
gave me the same results. I installed the mod HOPING it might fix what was
casuing this problem......nope. I downloaded the .dll file and I can now get
the GTR2002 screen to come up and create a driver, but then it crashes again
as soon as it tries to load the F1 2002.exe. I am running Win98, directx8
and have run this before. At least I am ONE step closer to actually trying
this mod. Kicker is I reformatted so I would have clean installs of
EVERYTHING to run it as best I could.... BANG.......right between the
eyes!!!!! I had zipped my entire folder as it was working fine at the
time....figured it was my only chance other than waiting until after Xmas
before being able to bone up the coin for ANOTHER COPY !!! Can someone
direct me to an .exe, and 3d config that'll work or somewhere where I can ge
a ".bin or .cue" version?? Although I have no clue how to open such
extensions...I am a bit PC illiterate and all.
Thanks all....Verne

I just don't get why you reformatted your computer. You don't even
need to do that to reinstall the OS. All is necessary if you just
wanted to get a nice clean install is to delete the F12002 directory
and reinstall it.
For future installs check out my page

quick and simple way to install F1 200x.

I have no doubt they make that purposely very difficult if not impossible to
do for obvious reasons.
Even NR2002 won't let you do this any more.
There are probably registry entries that the installer puts in that you
don't have.

I've upgraded my PC and reinstalled windows and never had to reinstall F1
2002. Maybe I was just lucky.

I heard that it is okay for F1 2002, not too sure though...
Simply reinstalling Windows over top of an existing installation doesn't
necessarily clear out the old registry entries.
Fresh install? Yes. Overlay install? No.

It was a fresh install. I formatted my C drive. F1 2002 was on my second
hard disk...
That's pretty fresh :)
This means any previous registry entries made by the installer are gone.
Whether this makes a difference with _this_ particular game is something I
can't answer, but it's certainly possible. If it is affected by this, I
think you are screwed.
