Released in Europe and Canada tomorrow. Not sure about release dates

David G Fisher
Ubisoft's Racing Simulation 3 release met with indifference
David G Fisher announced that Ubisoft's Racing Simulation 3, the follow-up to F1 Racing Championship, would be released in Europe and Canada on 5 December, but UK posters could find no trace of it in shops. The group's indifference led Fisher to complain that r.a.s. dismisses sims untried. Others cited the abandoned F1RC patch, and Fisher replied that publisher Video System had been responsible. Old arguments over GPL's realism and CPR resurfaced.
Automated summary.

Interesting Dave. Where did you here that? All games are released on
Fridays in UK, but anyway, there is no mention of it on any of the major
games sites, EB, Game, Software First, etc. No mention on Ubi UK either.

Hehe. Actually looking forward to this one. I'm not expecting it to
be a F12k2 beater, but certainly if it has the best features of
previous ubi games, then i am hopeful.
ghosts, easy to edit graphics / sounds, decent internet gaming
service, etc (recalling pod and f1rs). F1RC's licensing hassles and
daft AI are hopefully put to rest now.
On the pure sim front, i don't think it compares with the papy games,
but sometimes you want an alternative.
looking forward to any reviews...

hmmm... it does. So, how come there is no mention of its release anywhere on

Andre,
For the 10 millionth time, VideoSystems was the publisher for F1RC. They
decided whether a patch was put out or not. Not Ubi Soft. Just like Sierra
decides what happens to Papyrus.
VideoSystems is no longer involved with RS3.
Time to move on.
If I couldn't move on, then I wouldn't buy N2003 since those pussies at
Papyrus never bothered to respond to even one of my polite attempts to get
help for my freezes which ruined 8 out of every 10 of my races, and also
cost me about $500 in futile attempts at replacing perfectly good hardware
searching for an answer.

Remember the mother of all debates here at r.a.s.? It took me a half an hour

It wasn't until Kaemmer finally said the same thing that many of you were

There isn't a sim with cars that handle realistically. There are
degrees of realism and immersion, however, and GPL is still in the top
3 driving simulations of all time in that regards.
There was a great post by Arnao on the Simbin forums recently where he
scoffed at how people are constantly comparing sims based how close to
reality they are, rather than how convincing they are. At this point
in time, there are no sims comparable to GPL/N2002/F12002/GTR2002 in
terms of emulating the sensations that a real driver experiences while
pushing a car to the limit and beyond, and most experienced real-life
racers who also spend time with sims seem to have a formed a concensus
in that regard.

No simulation will ever handle cars realistically.

Maybe true, but surely the point is to get as close to realism as can be
achieved given the obvious restrictions of the artificial environment of a
PC.

It took me all of half an hour to realize that CPR was the most
convincing racing sim ever!

LOL!
"models the infinate suck"! I'm gonna store that expression for later
use :)
Did anyone ever think that GPL was 100% perfect? I very much doubt
it.
Did anyone think that GPL was the best auto racing simulation at the
time of it's release? You betcha.
Ignoring the evolutions that were N4 and N2K2, GPL is arguably still
top 3 along with F12K2 (and associted mods) and Live for Speed.
