TORCS is superb. Discovered it about a month ago when I was looking for
some racing games. The physics seem right and racing against other cars is
interesting (with a huge variety of cars from Ferraris to 4WD rally cars and
historic cars). And it's free! Definitely compares well with commercial
racing games IMO.
