The Simbin crew have released two more cars for the GTR 2k2 mod. The 24hr of Nurburging winner: Zakspeed Viper and a fictional Gulf Lister. Once you see the Lister in the famous Gulf Livery, you'll understand why most Listers are painted black...that is ONE UGLY CAR!!! dave :) henrie http://www.simmods.com/forums/index.php?act=ST&f=27&t=8710 --- Outgoing mail is certified Virus Free. Checked by AVG anti-virus system (http://www.grisoft.com). Version: 6.0.434 / Virus Database: 243 - Release Date: 12/25/02
Dave, You hit it right on the head. I thought that in black it was horrible, but in the Gulf colors it is truly UGLY !! Joel Willstein -- "If you can leave black marks on a straight from the time you exit a corner till the time you brake for the next turn , then you have enough horsepower." IMHO the real 512 _could_ have felt something like this. Very hard suspension, very direct steering, lightweight and quick, turbo lag, huge power onset when the turbo kicks in under acceleration is modelled well within the constraints of this sim, the throttle is still precise though, you just have to be easy on it. Lapspeeds are faster than that of the Marcos (the only other car I really drive in GTR2002 except for a few test laps). Behaviour follows nicely all setup modifications. On bumpy tracks like RoadAtlanta this 512 jumps as badly as a scared chicken, you have to play with suspension settings and also adjust your driving style to this characteristic, which I think is perfectly realistic. Fast speed, but not a fire and forget car - you have to use it within its constraints. The original engine sound IMHO is too loud, I reduced it to 75% and think that is more in line with the other GTR2002 cars. Sound hue is best described and stinging I think, it bites your eardrums badly :) All in all I'm pretty impressed with this 512, it's an extremely fascinating car for me - maybe because it's one of the hot rods of the times when I was young, I don't know if today's young folks are equally fascinated with it, but I certainly am. Happy new year, Jason!! Achim "Jason Moyer" <[email hidden]> wrote in message news:[email hidden]...

Hi, What Ferrari 512 are you talking about? I only know two Ferrari 512 models: the road-going 512BB (Berlinetta Boxer), and the race Sports Prototype 512M (Porsche 917 rival), both late 60`s/early 70`s, and they were both 5-liter, 12-cylinder, atmosferic engines. I don`t know any 512 with turbo. Perhaps some of the privately prepared 512BB`s that appeared in the years to follow? This is not totally academic, as I am now gathering everything necessary to install GTR2002, as a companion to GPL. Thanks. DF
Maybe I was wrong and what I perceived isn't a turbo lag. It feels like one, but it doesn't say anywhere whether it's a turbo or not. As for what 512 I'm talking about, why don't you visit the link I gave and see for yourself? That'll be the fastest way :-) Achim
Very sound advice. I could not get to it the first time, but I`ve checked it now, and it is the sports prototype of Le Mans :))))))))))))))))))))).YES! It is a 5-liter V12, atmospheric. I just got GTR2002 working, and, boy, is it great! I`ll try the Ferrari today. If anyone wants more info on the Ferrari, just tell me.
