Eldred will be hosting the annual 100% Nurburgring race using GPL and
VROC of January 1 (this Wednesday).
The race is at 9:00 am eastern time.
Load up VROC and wait for the server to show up in the server list.
I would love to see more than six people show up for this race.
Don't forget to fill your race setup fuel tanks to the max possible
load-out so you don't run out of gas. I would also recommend
selecting a chassis that can take some punishment if you think you'll
be taking occasional cross-country excursions through the forest.
I would also use the time between now and January 1 to re-familiarize
yourself with the track through a little offline practice.
I ran an offline race today with a full tank of fuel and ran a pb of
8:30.3 on lap 2 (and then proceeded to totally hose up turn 1 at the
start of lap 3)...

I'm going to finally try to make this; have to go to work at 12 est, so
it'll be close.

Nurburgring setup? :)
Have you tried it with a full fuel load?
You gonna race with us tomorrow?
Hi John,
I hope to race - got guests but 'er indoors promises she'll get shot of them
by race time but apols in advance if not.
Your welcome to my setup. I've tested it on full tanks and it's fine. Just
be careful on full tanks coming into metzgesfeld (otherwise known as the
very fast left hander with the strategically placed tree). It will ground
there on the uphill transition when full but if you're pointed straight on
neutral throttle - no problem.
Did an 8:08 with it yesterday with a few hedge-trimming incidents so it
works. As always though, one man's setup is another man's nightmare. I spent
a week once trying to master Greger's GPL setups - like driving an oiled
snake with a hinge in the middle.
Anyway ..... email on the way. Hope to see you there.
Regards and Happy New Year all.

eeer, not to be nitpicking but... arent you talking about
Adenenauerforst? Metzgesfeld is the long left hander *after*
Adenauerforst with the little shed on the left side of the
track to serve as a braking marker, or am I wrong?
Just wondering,

There's braking markers at the ring?

Wherever it is, at least I managed to miss the damn tree this time - that's
a record :)))

I fired up the game and found it... it's even a bit down the road from where
I start to set up the turn. Also too far out from the line if sight to serve
as a marker, IMO. That's really the trouble with that turn. It's in such a
bland area it's all down to sense of speed to take it properly. Online can
play havoc with that, so it's one of my bogey turns.

agreed! It's really hard to find the correct braking spot for
Metzgesfeld, this is why I settled for a rather blurry "brake
once you've passed the shed" kind of mindframe when exiting
Adenauerforst, rather than wasting yet another lap by going off
there ;-)
