Several years ago, I raced online quite a bit, but then real life intruded. I want to get back into it now. Where? A lot of the links I'm finding are dead, so I need current links to addons, active league(s) preferably with handicaps, etc... Also, how fast to I need to be in order to be competitive? I'm racing F2 right now, and my GPLrank is +389 :-(

Do you have iGOR? Comes with GEM+. http://gem.ebi-service.de/ Loads more addons here: http://www.gpllinks.org/ The tracks: http://gpltd.bcsims.com/?ir=Mods There's *loads* of cars and tracks for GPL. More than any other simulator or racing game I've seen yet.

Try http://games.groups.yahoo.com/group/LoPeN_Racers/ Very casual racing and a wide range in skill level. Also try the GPL forum at http://srmz.net . Very active with GPL stuff and links for most of the files and patches. Also check the "Hey anyone need racer" section for leagues looking for drivers ralphy wrote:

Does GPL run under Vista 64 and D3D or do you need to run a Glide Wrapper to get the most out of it (assuming it runs)? Is there a site around with a step by step FAQ of what you need to do? Thanks Gary

A step by step for installing GPL can be found at: http://adc.speedgeezers.net/pages/gpl/faqs/install-gpl-67-the-65-mod-gem-and-igor.php Or take the easy route and use the GPL installer: http://gplps.org/wb/pages/projects/gpl-installer.php Not sure about Vista 64 but it runs very well with modern video cards using D3D and opengl. FWIW, I'm running GPL on 64bit Win7, NVidia GeForce G 105M. I've had GPL up to 1152x864 under OpenGL, max detail, with no problems. D3D causes some odd video problems for me, only updates 1/4 of the screen. Only other bug I've noticed is that sometimes GPL doesn't seem to initialize the controller properly. A restart usually fixes that, especially if I close some open apps while I'm at it. YMMV, HTH, HAND

Thanks, grabbed the complete installer, the Speedgeezer sites seem to be gone. I have an ATI 4870 1GB and Intel running at 3.6Gz. I believe ATI will do well with OGL but this will be the 1st thing i've ever tried.. G

BTW in case it's not clear iGOR *finds* races for you. You get a display of the list of races found with the practice time remaining, number of entrants etc. http://gem.ebi-service.de/igorhosting6steps.html A picture under step 2.

Installed it fresh off the CD using the Full Installer, then installed the latest GEM+. Trying to start GPL all I get is a messed up 640x480 screen (it's actually two screens over the top of each other and an arrow cursor that moves but doesn't do anything. Only way out is Task Manager. Tried running the rasterizer app but makes no difference (OGL or D3D), tried running GPL Setup Manager but Runtime Error 380, Invalid Property Value error. Tried running as an XP aopp, no difference, tried different settings in properties, no different. Can't get in to set resolution or anything else, maybe i'll start looking at ini files..

OK, turned off AA and Aniso and it seems to work fine, G25 seen and calibrated great. Tried OGL and got a flashing screen so went back to D3D at 1600x1200. G
