Any advice would be appreciated It'd be faster, but not by all that much, and I don't think you'd get any extra features either. If you could stretch to a Gf4 4200 (ie not an MX) you'd have something that would probably be better in your current system, and a whole lot better when you get your new one. You might then be able to put off buying the 9700 for a few months & instead get the next big thing after that. Malc.

Any advice would be appreciated The GF4 MX cards are crap and not much of an upgrade over a GF2. You would be better off with a GF3 Ti card. -- __________________________ Todd Walker http://twalker.d2g.com __________________________
Based on your system specs, IMO, a GF4MX will gain you nothing except that hassle of installing a new vid card. -- Biz "Don't touch that please, your primitive intellect wouldn't understand alloys and compositions and,......things with molecular structures,....and the....." - Ash "Luke Phillips" <(NOSPM)[email hidden]> wrote in message news:diXV9.22731$[email hidden]... > My current system by the way is a celeron 850/256mb ram/xp pro > > >

Any advice would be appreciated No, MX4 is just slightly faster MX2.

Any advice would be appreciated Judge for yourself..... http://www6.tomshardware.com/graphic/20021218/index.html For just a little more money you can get an ATI R8500 or R9000, both being DX8 cards, or a GF3Ti200 if you'd rather stay with nVidia, of course, if that GF4MX is yours for next to nothing, it's a fair bit quicker than a GF2MX Beers and cheers (uncle) Goy http://www.theuspits.com "A man is only as old as the woman he feels........" --Groucho Marx--

Any advice would be appreciated Depending on your cpu, you would probably gain more from upgrading to a GeForce 3 Ti200 or GeForce4 Ti4200. -- Don Burnette
