http://www.cart.com/Contact.asp There's a specific address there which apparently goes directly to the people in charge of game licensing. At least I hope (if it goes to Midway I'll be getting a nasty response =). I sent them a fairly lengthy email describing the support for a realistic CART sim, how the NR series has turned many non-Americans into NASCAR fans simply by being so good, and also generally inquiring about any CART games that are coming out. I also sent them links to the sierra.de poll and a previous petition for a CART sim that had several thousand responses. I figure it can't hurt to go straight to the series and beg them for something worth playing. Jason
Which one? The "CART Games" refers to their internal games (fan stuff) I believe. But no question CART should be PAYING Papy to do a good sim. and hand it out at events (like Daytona did with NASCAR Racing). If they gave up all the licensing bullshit fees and actually paid for the sim (which would amount to about .1% of even their new reduced promotions budget), but then got a share of sales revenue and got to use it for their own promo purposes, too, they would be ahead in the end. I agree. I think it would help the sport if, when they do the re-launch that Pook has been discussing for 2005, it was accompanied by a brand new CART simulator. I'm not saying that's the sole answer to CART's marketing woes, but surely the Nascar Racing series has made fans out of many people who didn't care for the sport at all. Jason
I think this year would have been a good year to do it. An awesome selection of tracks. A series that should be driver skill based since the cars are going to be close to spec. And a year that they desperately need to make a break-through in PR and popularity (in the US...it's very popular in Canada, Mexico and Australia and decent in Europe). Great idea but not sure 'CART games' is the place to send a message. Perhaps 'CART, Inc' would be more appropriate to get the attention of the marketing people. What the hell, sent it to all the contact destinations in the drop down list. I went to the practice day at Laguna Seca yesterday. It was a beautiful day in Monterey, CA at a beautiful track and those cars are some of the most beautiful things created by man. Papy should do a CART sim!
