Does anybody know how to set the manual clutch back to semi-automatic? Since I don't have a clutch pedal (yet), I liked it better as a semi-auto. TIA Bill Berry
I had to set the mode to 'amateur' and that seemed to do it. The choice would have been clearer if they labled it gearbox selection and had a choice between semi or manual. dave henrie
Am I missing something? I don't have a clutch pedal and I set the car to pro. All I have to do is blip/lift the throttle as appropriate when shifting, I don't ever touch the button I have mapped to the clutch. Seems to work. "Dave Henrie" <[email hidden]> wrote in message news:[email hidden]...

Off to try it. Bill Berry
ahhhhh, that's what i need to do to eliminate the 2nd gear scratches, lift! ;-) "Dave Henrie" <[email hidden]> wrote in message news:[email hidden]...

Okay, I can see that, but OTOH it kind of feels more realistic set to pro, and it doesn't take much to get used to it. Hmm, chewing gum and walking at the same time, that sounds like that will require some practice.... Other than the misnomer of "Amateur" and "Professional," we can all be thankful that the new gods of simming (SBDT) gave us these options, so we can all configure the way we like and take advantage of clutch controllers if we have them. Can someone explain if there's any advantage in using a clutch pedal on the pro setting? As Haq points out, it still seems very do-able even without using a clutch. Also, can some experienced racer explain the timing when blipping. i.e. should I just quickly 'stab' the throttle and then downshift or should I hold the throttle on while downshifting?

Haven't grabbed the patch yet, but I've been running a normal gearbox since day 1 and it seems to behave like GPL or N4/2002/2003, aside from not causing critical damage if you don't lift when you shift. I hope the rankings on findthelimit.com are now divided into amateur and pro since using a semi-automatic gearbox gives a decent laptime advantage. Jason
