EA F12002 (AND GTR2002) still not working?

Ok, F1 2002 (and GTR2002) do not work here. The game attempts to start I hear the hydraulic jack sound, then the screen goes blank and the pc locks up and I have to reboot, cannot even ctrl, alt & delete. After getting responses from others I have: I have checked sound card and graphics card drivers, I have the latest. I have made sure swap file is at least 500mb. I have turned off sound acceleration and even tried turning off sound completely. I have installed the no cd patch, still doesn't start. I have tried re-installing the game. Any ideas please? I have Asus A7V m/b with 512mb pc 133 ram and AMD duron 1.3gb cpu with GeForce3 Ti200 graphics card and Hercules Fortissimo II sound card, and I'm using win98se. 8-)

This may not help but I will tell you my experience. I am (still) using the Voodoo 5 5500 (win98se/P4 2G/256MB) and experienced a very similar problem with F12002 when I tried some new 3rd party drivers. I went back to the original drivers that came with the card (not even the newest OEM) to get it to work again. From this I would say it is video or sound card drivers. lots of users have a similar setup to yours, so it should work. Did you try out the f1 sim before attempting to mod it with gtr? That should always be the first thing...run the original to verify it's properly installed. Do not begin a mod install until your sure the original is working properly. dave henrie
