I titled this RASCAR so those who use the filter do not have to read my babbling. ANYWAY, today momma grub took MOMO back to circuit city for a refund. You see, I stopped by circuit city on the way home to get a new hard drive and saw the MOMO there. I couldn't resist since everyone on the board seems to love the product. I currently have the Thrustmaster pro digital 2 wheel but its not force feedback. I have wondered about whether FF would give me the competitive edge here at rascar. If I could only keep up with Tim White. Well, I brought the big momo box home in a big bag and momma saw me. I tried to hid it but it made things worse. You see, tomorrow is valentines day. What do you think momma thought when I came home, the day before Valentines day, with a great big bag? What do you think momma thought when grub pulled out a $100.00 toy....for him and not her? Somehow she just could not understand why grub needed another high dollar wheel when the first one worked just fine. She started acting weird an all and then I started to put the pieces together and then figured it all out. Boy, am I in deep do do now! No present for Momma. So, here I sit all broken hearted.......... Well, my review of the MOMO for all of about 2 hours of intense playing is that it hindered my driving. Maybe if I had kept it, I might have gotton use to the FF but it was alkward. Also, the clamping system does not work as well as my Thrustmaster. I dont blame her. I really did not need another wheel. I will just have to get my competitive edge by more practicing and trying to get more consistent. Momma just got back from Circuit City and everything is fine now at the grub household. Some advice from a 15yr married-to-the-same-domestic partner-man who is still learning about the female species........Never, ever, ever, come home the day before an important date (like her birthday or Valentines day), with a great big box full of high dollar toys for you and no one else. It is inconsiderate, unloving, and just plain stupid. It's like watching one of those reality shows, but its you on the center stage. Reality show,, Is Joe millionare REALLY a $19,000.00 dozer driver.? The last dozer driver I knew made 20.00 an hour. Man, that dark haired woman (the school teacher) is hot. She's got too much class for Joe. Of course they are all gold-diggers if you ask me. On moment I feel sorry for them and the next I see them for what they really are. I guess its one way to get on TV. I'd rather be racing myself. Happy Valentines day all and stay out of trouble!! :) grub
heh, I learnt that lesson the hard way too. I went out to buy my fiance a birthday present....so what's the first store I go to? EB. What do I buy? An Xbox. For who? Myself. I was so excited that I rushed home to play it and forgot all about her present (her birthday was the next day). Well I copped some dark treatment after that.... I'd agree. Always look at the calendar before spoiling yourself. Oh and in the end she was happy with her gift. I felt so bad that I really spent a lot of money...I got her a full day in a thalgo day spa...all that pampering and stuff....they love it. massivechicken. and the xbox? Best thing I've ever bought myself! I'd never owned a console before...now I'm hooked...they are so much fun with a modchip...the stuff you can do with them...it's like the entertainment hub in my loungeroom now (dvd's, vcd's, divX movies, mp3's, xbox games, 1600 mame games, photo album viewer, the list goes on....*sigh*) "grubbat" <[email hidden]> wrote in message news:[email hidden]...

Force feedback enriches the experience, IMO. One shouldn't use it to go faster. It might give you an edge in the consistency, but certainly not in the speed stakes.

I'd like to wring his neck. This weeks episode was touted as being the final the entire week before, then they pulled that bullshit... I can't believe they are going to squeeze another TWO hours out of this. The last episode was ultimately boring. I never really liked FF in Nascar Racing, but forced myself to live with it when N4 came out. Not because I like it (I used to run with FF disabled), but because running a non-FF wheel makes the pull-to-the-left unbearable since you have to fight with the centering spring the whole time. At least with FF it's not that bad. The FF in GPL is the only thing that made it possible for me to get around the track a full lap, though. It does SO much for GPL. "EldredP" wrote... > > <snip> > I keep seeing people say that getting FF helped their > speeds, because they can feel what the car is doing > almost before it DOES it... Yes, it does provide information as to what is going on and it does give one confidence in what the car is capable of. I don't know whether this is real or perceived, but in my mind it also allows for more of the driving being delegated to the sensory/balance system as opposed to relying on one's vision/hearing and all that can lead to more speed, but it comes at a price. The thing is, with FF, the car "reacts" to your inputs and these reactions can influence your inputs. Assuming it doesn't start oscillating by itself (if it does then it's not set up right) it's still possible, either by asking to much of the car or not being smooth enough in your inputs, to have the chassis "load up" (fight your input) or "unload" (suddenly pulling along your input) and even change violently between the two (the classic overcorrection situation). I.e. the resistance of the wheel to turning changes dynamically and that may throw you off and _will_ slow you down. Eventually, that is. FF won't stop you go beyond -20s on GPLRank or anything, but holding those impossibly perfect hotlapper slides is only possible without FF messing with your opposite locking, IMO. What I'm saying is if your goal is ultimate speed, don't go for FF. All other simmers should at least try. It makes (good) racing sims a whole new experience. Jan. =---

Thanks for the offer jon but I just couldn't accept. I was raised that if someone does something fer ya, then you do something back better. Maybe Im too southern, or maybe I don't like people doing for me. I would rather give than receive. How come that last sentence just don't sound right. (No I was never in prison) I am happy with my wheel after trying the MOMO. It was nice but too stiff for me and the FF was kinda weird. grub "jon" <[email hidden]> wrote in message news:IJZ2a.6179$[email hidden]...
