My trusty TM Sprint wheel seems to have died on me in the middle of GPL Rally 2 :-( Does anyone know of a suitable replacement that allows the use of hand levers for gas and brake? The TM Modena and Modena Pro wheels seem to allow this, but I'm having a hard time tracking any down in the UK. Does anyone know if 1) These wheel are any good 2) Where I can buy them 3) Anything better that I should be looking at? Thanks for your help. Ian

Not particularly > 2) Where I can buy them PC world or Game should have them. > 3) Anything better that I should be looking at? The old TM GP1 was a good wheel, but I doubt you'd find one anywhere now. Where in the UK are you ? I'm in Wrexham and have an old TM 360 Modena you can have if you can pick it up. Only used for about a week, I preferred the MS wheel. > > Thanks for your help. > > Ian Ian P

Ian, I can only address your first question, having used the TM Sprint and then following it up with a Modena before making the jump to pedals just last year (and to force feedback just last week). In terms of build quality, I found the Modena to be much better than the Sprint. The wheel rotated smoothly, and it was nice not having to deal with potentiometers. Also, the wheel is almost dimensionally identical to the Sprint's (but angled slightly back) and rotates the same 180 degrees. And, yes, the wheel supports separate axes for gas and brake. However, some things took some getting used to. The button placement is awful. While I appreciated the two four-way hat switches on the wheel, the only other two buttons on the face of the wheel are tiny and located low and in the middle of the hub. Hitting these buttons while working the paddles and turning the wheel was not easy. The paddle design is also inferior to the Sprint's. First, you only get to use the lower half of a paddle as an axis; the upper half counts as a button (presumably to be used for shifting). The paddles also have a small amount of travel. This was probably the hardest feature to get used to, especially in throttle/brake-sensitive games like GPL. Finally, the pedals -should you decide to use them- are below-average (though not nearly as crappy as that lump of plastic that came with the Sprint). I ended up mapping the shift functions on the shift levers and on the buttons in front. That way, I'd have at least one button I could reach regardless of the position of the wheel and which paddle I was working. The paddle travel issue I learned to live with. Hope this helps. Martin
My Thrustmaster Ferrari FF wheel's accelerator peddle spring has just broken and Thrustmaster couldn't send me any spares, so I've now gone out and bought a new Momo Force to replace it. Thus my old Ferrari wheel with a broken peddle is going spare and could be yours for a small fee. If you haven't seen what they're like it has 2 digital paddles for shifting and 2 analogue paddles which only work without the peddles plugged in. It also has a gear stick and two buttons on the front as well as four way pov hat and an 8 way pov hat. The FF is pretty good too. It's up for grabs so if anyone wants it drop me a line. I had 3 different Modena 360 wheels and lost the right analog lever in each one in less then 3 weeks each time. ( the last 2 on warrantee ). Very unhappy with them. I have been using a Logitech Driving force (the one designed for the Playstation 2) on both my PS2 and PC. Have had it for a few months now and have no complaints. The hand controls are much sturdier and the FF workd great. Elrikk PS If you ever do find one of the high quality wheels with analog hand controls I would appreciate a nod.

This sounds interesting. How much do you want? Postabge will need to be included, as I am in the Bedford / Milton Keynes area. Ian
