Hi all.. I was just wondering : after having played the demo for a mere 5 min (which was honestly ALL I could take) I uninstalled it... I was expecting very much of this title The Question to you guys is : Who will buy the Game after having played this demo ? I definitely answer : NO Unless they re-program every line in the physics-routine (which must probably be 3 lines long at the moment)
"Trick Dacy" wrote... > Hi all.. > <snip> > Who will buy the Game after having played this demo ? > I definitely answer : NO I'll side with the NO's on this one. For several reasons, not the least of which is the demo crashes on my system. Jan. =---

No I won't.. TRD demo was the most annoying piece of software my PC ever experienced.. heck! TIR is a fantastic sim compared to TRD. The idea was great, when I saw the list of included tracks and cars I was impressed, but when I played the demo yesterday I vommited over my keyboard. I know it's going downhill with the sim racing world, but this is getting ridiculous :( Andre
so many people wanted this to be good, but as it is 80% finished and only 1 month away from going gold, I wont be wasting my hard earned on this title. At best its a keyboard handling arcade game with some new interesting features. some work and some really don't, on my p4 2.7 and gforce 4200 clocked with 512 of ddrram its blocky and not smooth with a wheel but is with the keyboard (something strange there). All in all the demo has pissed me off and I would of been happy to wait for the final as I might of been sucked in to buy it. Now all my hopes of a good sim racer is on racing legends. Don't let us down!!!!!!!! "Trick Dacy" <[email hidden]> wrote in message news:mBN7a.96002$[email hidden]... > Hi all.. > > I was just wondering : after having played the demo for a mere 5 min(which

And then again (and I mean this) : Netkar is a 100 times better than TIR, Stefano !!! Stefano Casillo <[email hidden]> schreef in berichtnieuws b3oe0f$uu$[email hidden]...

I'm holding my opinion for the finished version. Why? I feel that the problem with the demo is related to controller code, not to physics. Can't prove it until I play a demo with properly working controller code. Besides, even if the PC version sucks, it will probably still make a good Xbox game. I have both a LWFF wheel and a PS2 controller with a USB adaptor to run on the PC and the game is so squirrelly, so f-ing twitchy, so undriveable that it's hard to believe! I tried playing around with the wheel settings, deadzone, etc, etc but to no avail, you can't control the car for shit! At the "test" at Monza it was a struggle just to keep it off the walls, but at Brands Hatch, FORGET IT!!! I couldn't even make the first corner without the car fish-tailing all over the place! The gamepad was a bit better, but it was still completely un-drivable! Codemasters, I hope to hell you have someone from your Q/A department monitoring feedback on this forum because I can't see why they would let this turd slip out the door, even an 80% done demo! What an embarrassment! Jay J "Haqsau" <[email hidden]> wrote in message news:b3p0et$1nt83p$[email hidden]... > I'm holding my opinion for the finished version. Why? The control in this demo is the worst I've ever experienced in a driving game. Something is SERIOUSLY wrong with the controller code as Haqsau first pointed out. If this goes out the door without being fixed then the PC industry will set a new standard for shit QA. You know it won't be this poor on the Xbox, why is PC QA any different. Too easy to release chum in the wild-west world of PC gaming. -- Joe M.

Like you I was expecting good things of this title but having played the demo for about 5 mins I have to say that it is a big ,big disappointment, the car handling is appalling.................sorry codemasters but it needs to be better. The handling in "sim" mode on the PS2 version is pretty decent, actually. So I am assuming that they will fix the problem before releasing the game. But I am not buying until I hear that things have been fixed. Tony wrote:

Well, let me put it this way. The TRD demo made CPR look like GPL. Yeah, it's that bad. :) ----------------------------------------- Dan Belcher Webmaster, http://simcrash.fameflame.dk
Well after installing this great awaited demo "Race Driver" from( CODEMASTERS ) I was amazed at the lack of simulation and bad-bad-bad handling!!! So after playing for approx 4 minutes, i deleted the demo. But now my craving needed a true racing simulated game, that not only gave great handling, but a sence of speed and the thrill of enjoyment . So i fired up mame and loaded Sprint! even that has better handling. maybe even more code work on the steering too ;) To be honest Codemaster's! Why not install gplegend's and feel what a car should handle like ! not this train on rail's Crap! - i thought ytou would have learnt from your prior racing game's ! :(

Wow, that's bad! Do I have to suffer through that jackass Ryan? The steering is also set to 110% NON-linear too it seems. Uninstall and back to GTR 2002. geo

I hope the problem with the game is the controller code (everything seemed to be either on or off, not in between) and not the physics, but I suspect both. Heres something comical to try if you dare go back and play the demo again. Try keeping your accelerator foot flatly rooted to the floor, forget the car ever had a brake. Try to steer as little as possible (it seemed to me that even slightly left or right equalled full on handbrake left or right so I tried not to bother steering). Now go round corners flat out and let the tyres scrub some speed off. I went alot faster using this method than using the brakes. There was absolutely no feeling back through the steering wheel on my car like you get in other games like GTR2002.... I am very worried. Problem is that most magazine reviews don't look for things like physics when they review. The eye candy seems to be the important thing. We'll have to wait for some sucker to buy the game and posted his review here to find out whether its worth buying. Get your game sorted Codemasters. Jimbo PS. Doesn't bode well for the IRL game they're doing does it. Just received a response from Codies regarding the sloppy wheel suppoort on the PC demo. There will apparently be additional support in the game for linear steering, so that should sort that problem out. It was a bit difficult to see how the physics were 'changed' with the SIM switch so we'll have to wait and see on that one. As for the graphics, no probs on my rig. P4 3.06 GF4 4600 Win XP. Time will tell if the game turns out to be fun or not although I'm no longer expecting a 'sim'. Maybe the multiplayer will be stable and fun. Andi.
