Video problems

During game play in NASCAR 2003 my video gets all garbled up in the form of rectangle shapes basically just screwed up video. I have an ATI all in wonder 32 meg video card AMD 1700xp 512ddr memory ABIT KR7a raid board any thoughts? this problem comes and goes I have the latest catalyst 3.1 drivers installed I've tried different resolutions and turned off most of the high settings in the game. none of this seems to make a difference
