Well like i said in an earlier post i got this game yesterday and i`ve put
in about 4 hours now.....so i though i would say what i think ( pre-patched
version ).
1. The steering does take an age to get used to, mainly because the game
dosn`t seem to change the steering for the forward speed of your car, so at
great speed very small steering input is needed. This creates a problem
mainly ) when u turn into corners, its as if someone dials in an extra
armfull of steering lock for you. After loads of playing u do get used to
making very small steering wheel inputs. It`s ok, but genraly leaves you
feeling gutted.
2. A.I..I`ve not entered any cheats to increase there A.I so heres what i
found, on some corners the cars go around them at break neck speed, pretty
much unbeliavble, but the again i found at the hairpin at France u cant just
put in loads of lock and it goes round about 20mph faster than any other car
on the track... So some tracks its balanced and some its not ( which is
normal in a game today i think ). The way some drivers come back at you is
good also.. but for me the others seem to knock each other off all the dam
time...
3. Graphics, very nice, i can play very easly on 1280x960 or even higher,
smooth frame rate, nice looking cars, some nice tracks, and some very plain
tracks.
4. Sound, very good use of EAX, but some minnor problems with bugs.
5. Bugs, well here i go, sometimes at brands hatch after the first right
hander you go don in to the dip, well, sometimes, sometime lol the car slows
down in the dip to almost a stop, as if you had pressed the break pedale buy
mistake...? only track i`ve found to do it mind, yet theres time to find
others i guess. After playing for a few hours the backfire sound turns to
white noise... very off putting but more annoying than crap. I`ve also had
the game crash about 2 times, with a file error when loading a track, and
also just genrale lock ups and hangs, one even reset my computer..? yet 99%
of all my other games are fine.
Overall, if they patch it to fix the steering issues,sound issuse,and genral
bug issue then maybe i will keep it, if not then im going to give it to a
mate and make it his problem.
I`ve had the PS2 version, tried the x-box version to, and i may well swap my
pc version 4 the x-box one, who knows...
