Montoya loses French driving licence for speeding

News that Juan Pablo Montoya lost his French licence after being clocked at 204 km/h led to jokes referencing his cameraman outburst, and posters swapped stories of their own speeding in small cars. French speed limits and whether a road licence ban affects a racing licence were briefly discussed.

Well, I guess that makes every driver I've ever met a, in your words, 'fucking idiot'. Just because they didn't get caught, or it didn't make the papers, they all have lurid, often hilarious stories about their antics in an automobile. It sorta' goes with the profession. Of course, if you're one of those namby pampy, politically correct sheep that seem to want to impress your morals on the rest of the world, I can see where you might get upset. Hell, Dan Gurney drove from NYC to Newport Beach in 35 hours, does that make him a 'fucking idiot'? JPM for President! "Ice D" <[email hidden]> wrote in message news:VZ6wa.419667$[email hidden]...

hehehe, the key thing with the Fiat Seicento is that it has one similarity to modern F1 cars. Its half as wide as every other car out there! cuts through the air like a knife, and i can still fit 2 adults and 2 7foot6 surfboards in it! trully an amazing vehicle. pez "Tony Rickard" <[email hidden]> wrote in message news:lTbwa.5539$[email hidden]...

I'm surprised that the French police didn't just give up the chase.

Montoya in his capable car or the cop that chased him down... no contest in my mind. A classic story from 1960's at Watkins Glen--one of the F1 drivers was stopped for speeding on the way to the race, the drivers often flew into NY City and drove across beautiful southern NY State: Small town cop: Just who do you think you are, Stirling Moss? Driver: No, I'm Jack Brabham! (and he was World Champion that year). I believe that Brabham was sent on his way with a "stern warning"<grin>. -- Doug Milliken www.millikenresearch.com

The traffic is likely to move considerably in excess of that figure. I'd say 100mph would be a typical traffic flow speed. Z. -- Please remove my_pants when replying by email.

The last time I remember seeing rules, if you lost your driving license, your race license was suspended for the same period of time. Does this still apply? R.

Didn't know that, but apparently not: "Local officials said that Montoya was facing a two-month suspension from driving in France, but that would not affect his participation in the French Grand Prix." They might give him a stop-and-go penalty, just for the fun of it :-) Ice D

Its depend if the police wan to catch u or not :) If your blonde with big ... heu... eyes, u'r wiil be caught at 131 :) Police are VERY lazy in France.
