Does anyone else get flashing textures in the cockpit view during online racing? It is so bad that I can't see! I only play online, so I have to immediately exit when it occurs :( My config: MSI K7T Turbo2 Athlon XP 1600+ 512 PC133 Crucial ATI Radeon 8500LE 64MB (DX9.0+Cat3.2 in 98SE/DX9.0a+Cat3.4 in XP Pro) SB Live! Value 3Com NIC Dell M992 19" Monitor Dual Boot Win98SE/WinXP Pro with all latest Windows Updates The problem only occurs in WinXP. My settings are 1600x1200x32 D3D. The game runs fine with all the same settings in Win98SE. The game also runs fine, but slower using OpenGL in WinXP. I am convinced it is a driver problem or "updating" to DX9.0a wasn't a good idea in XP because that is really the only difference between the two os's config's. I have a new HDD and want to get rid of Win98SE. Anyone else notice this?
I fixed the problem. The "TextureSetSize" variable in the file rend_dxg.ini in my C:\Papyrus\NASCAR Racing 2003 Season directory was set too high for some reason. The fix: Look for this line: TextureSetSize=43015201 Your actual number may be different, but here's the formula to calculate a better number for your machine/configuration. ((MB of video card ram) X (1048576)) - ((4 X Screen Resolution Width) X (Screen Resolution Height) X BPP)) Note BPP = 2 for 16 bit color and 4 for 32 bit. I.E. ((64 X 1048576)) - ((4 X 1600 X 1200 X 4)) 67108864 - 30720000 = 36388864 "Bill Anderson" <[email hidden]> wrote in message news:deyya.72221$[email hidden]...
