I watched some of the greatest specktacles in racing, but most of my
morning was spent watching a streaming video of the recap of Brands Hatch
CART race via cart.com.
So who won? I never saw Robbie G anytime I watched.

Nope, Sarah Fisher's engine blew in turn two. She spun in her own oil and
smacked the wall pretty hard :-(

I thought it seized and locked the rears?
Either way, a grand total of jack squat the driver can do about it. Good
race anyway.

Pop quiz:
Of the past 5 Indy 500 victors, how many were born in the USA?
W (Nothing against foreigners, lots against George)

Brck, Sweden
Montoya, Columbia
Castroneves, Brazil
Castroneves, Brazil
De Ferran, Brazil
So much for the heroes from the short tracks :)
The race yesterday really looked like a CART race, except the cars
were butt ugly and sounded even worse. Less downforce could also be
nifty...

Robbie Gordon, driving for Michael Andretti's team, the same Mikey that
Robbie cussed out on live TV for his rough driving. Ahhhh those were they
days...when I called him Mike the Knife for his ability to use the endplate
of his front wing to slice tires...Robbie Gordon, Jimmy Vasser, Al Unser
Jr, anybody who held up Mikey would suddenly get this mysterious cut rear
tire.
Of course Gordon and Tracey had those T-shirts printed up, Michael
Andretti's driving school for the Blind. Ya just don't see that kind of
driver interaction anymore.....sigh...
That Bourdais fellow, he's quick...

I agree, I thought the same thing...it would have made a good CART event
with all those Former CART drivers and teams up front. At least last year
a few of the older irl teams managed to be competitive. But, I do have
to admit, there is a mod for F1 2k2 that tries to cover the irl ground
without infringing on Codemasters copyrights. That is what grounded John
Bodin's IRL Heat mod..(a great piece of work albeit the wrong subject
matter) :) Anyway, if you try this XRL mod and remove all the driver
helps, those cars are very tricky to hang onto at race speeds. You
definately need to be someone who can drive smoothly with little wheel
input. (which ain't me btw)

endplate
Haha, I remember those days...it never dawned on me until now but yes, cut
rear tires showed up a bit more than normally on cars directly in front of
Mikey. ;)
Shame his Honda quit on him. Ah well, Andretti luck...

Where the hell is this XRL mod? Is this the DIDT Mod? I've searched high
and low for it. Could you point me in the right direction?
TIA

and

However the XRL mod is available directly from:
http://www.fzeri.com/xrlow/
make sure you dload the proper version, they have one for Nascar THunder
and F1 2002. I would suspect the Thunder version would be slightly more
accurate because it allows rolling vs standing starts.

Yeah, those were the days. Someone brought up the subject of those shirts and
Paul said that driving *for* him is quite different from driving against him.
No doubt Mikey wouldn't use 'the knife' at Indy... All he had to do was get on
the radio and tell Paul to quite blocking him. Failing that a call to the pits
to make sure that Paul has a 'slow' stop and bang, problem solved. Of course,
it never came down to that so just as well. Now that Mikey is an owner, it'll
be interesting.
I missed the CART race. Well, no I didn't. I don't bother watching them these
days. F1 actually has better racing now...
