Hello, I'm getting the following error when I try to run the Colin McRae Rally 3 demo: "This application has failed to start because d3d9.dll was not found. Reinstalling the application may fix the problem." I've installed it 3 times now and that's made no difference. And, in fact, that file really is missing. I've searched my drive and I can't find that file anywhere. Why it's missing, I've got no idea. During the install I didn't get any error messages so I would assume that it downloaded OK. Has anyone run into this error message when starting the Colin McRae Rally 3 demo? Anyone know the fix? Or if anyone has that file, might you be able to mail it to me? Thanks for your time, Jeff

Do you have Direct X 9 installed? If not, install it. If you have Direct X 9 installed already, you might try installing it again. Alanb

Check your video drivers of course. Also, a huge patch for the demo is coming out in a few days. JMI wrote:

Install DirectX 9.

Thanks! That did the trick! Only wish I wasn't as disappointed when I finally got it to run! I guess I was expecting it to look a lot better. Especially if it requires DirectX9! I've got an ATI Radeon 8500, which is DirectX8 compatable so I should be able to see lots of effects, but I don't see anything great. Unreal Tournament 2003 looks WAY better (albeit an entirely different kind of game). But my 128mb card sure is capable of great things! Thanks for the tip!
