Guys, not sure how I got this, but now my Explorer is set to automatically start at a certain website - whatzit dor com for those who are interested). I try to go back to my old faithful by using the "set homepage as" option, but every time Explorer load up again back comes the pesky page. Is there another way to do this? I've had a ferret through the registry and file search, but can't see anything obvious as to what's doing it....(windows XP) Thanks gents
Have you set the homepage in Internet Explorer by going to Tools/Internet Options/General/Use Current ? That should do the job, if not there must be something changing it back to whatzit in the registry. Sid. OK, turns out it was VERY sinister indeed. I wrote to their 'help', and in an automated response they cheerfully admitted they put it on to my system. They also provided a handy uninstaller, which sure enough deleted all those files, and then deposited a nasty virus called troj_coreflood.a (details of how nasty it is can be found here: http://www.trendmicro.com/vinfo/virusencyclo/default5.asp?VName=TROJ_COREFLO OD.A ) onto my compy. Luckily, good ol' Fix-It, er, fixed it, with the help of the newest anti-virus stuff, but what a terrible way to behave. Wish I could report 'em.......

I guess your IExplorer has been hijacked. Recently, it has become fashionable on the net to hijack user's IExplorers and then charge them for the software to unhijack it :) Sorry, I can't give better information, I don't use IExplorer myself and I didn't bother to look into details of this problem, but it was something about IExplorer providing certain API that allowed to hijack it. Microsoft has recently released some security patch, but I'm not sure if it fixes this problem. Alex.
