I was hoping to participate in the RASCAR race this weekend since my schedule allows it. Do I just need a password? Do I need to be added to some server list? Thanks! -- Robert Huggins [email hidden]

For what it's worth, If RASCAR insists on refusing you wanting to race with them, and you really did Want to race, then they'll never see me back. I have been accused of cheating so many times it's like water; you always have to look at the source. Some people here once thought Grandy and I were the same person, until we both showed up for the same race lol. I like John, and I honestly appreciate what he and Eldred do here, but did he take the time to ask you personally where you are with all this? Or did he just say no to the effort to do the right thing, and left it up to hype. What's ironic for me is I was accused of cheating in the old days right here in this ng and RASCAR never bothered me about it. Maybe you're just more famous then I am :))) Seriously, it really is disappointing to me, considering the state of online racing today. If every online racer was kicked out based on reputation, or past grievances with now defunct and self-acknowledged inadequacies, most the people I consider quality racers would never see the light of day. I remember the time Chris Shearborn was kicked out of a league based on a simple rule that allow all the members to vote on a new driver after the first 3 races. After Chris won the pole, led the most laps, and won the race his first 3 times out, the 'rule' suddenly let all the back markers say 'No Thanks' to getting their butts handed to them. While I've quit more leagues rather than deal with cheaters then I care to mention, I've been on the other side too; The one where a league admin decides something is too personal for him/them to deal with. Still, it's a real shame when a group like RASCAR becomes just another league, since it stood for so many things I admired. Btw, to anyone else who cares, I've never met you either :) -- Tim White www.intracmotorsports.com

Probably. But while I whine about being labeled a cheater, in some respects it means I'm doing something right lol. There's a saying business, 'Never be the first and try not to be the last.' All I know is whatever Robert is capable of, after all these years he's still getting smacked around for being the 'first'. -- Tim White www.intracmotorsports.com "Goy Larsen" <[email hidden]> wrote in message news:[email hidden]... > > > Tim wrote: > > > > For what it's worth, > > Not that I would refuse Robert to race if it was my call, the past is > the past and few people knows what really happened back then, but you > must agree that Robert's case is a little special no ? >

First, his request for admittance pretty much said "I don't know if I'll ever find the time to race, but I'd like to reserve a car number." Well, we want people that are going to participate on a regular basis, not once every other month if they happen to think about it. It's not fair to the others in the group that *are* more dedicated that want to drive with a known set of drivers in a controlled environment without having to join a real league. The whole reason RASCAR was even formed was because we didn't want to race in pickup races against cheaters and wreckers. Second, he was the center of one of the biggest online cheating discussions in RAS. His claims that he was "testing for papy" were never (to my knowledge) verified by anyone at Papy. Was he in fact testing for Papy? I don't know. Did he take the "special executable" and race outside the claimed auspices of Papy testing? I don't know. Did a lot of peoiple think he was? Yes. Do you really want to get beat in a race with someone with that kind of history? No, because you'll never quite be sure if he beat you fair and square. > I have been accused of cheating so many times it's like water; you > always have to look at the source. Nobody in RASCAR ever accused you of that, did they? I'm asking because I honestly don't know if it happened. > Some people here once thought > Grandy and I were the same person, until we both showed up for the > same race. lol. You can't fault me for that, and it would be very narrowminded of you to do so. > What's ironic for me is I was accused of cheating in the old days > right here in this ng and RASCAR never bothered me about it. > Maybe you're just more famous then I am :))) Sometimes it's not good to be famous.

That's not nearly the same thing, Tim. You and Mike regulalry hand our butts to us when you care to show up, and all we've ever said is "How do you do that?". I've often wondered how you can possibly have fun racing against us if you're always running up front and kicking our collective asses. :) > Still, it's a real shame when a group like RASCAR becomes just another > league, since it stood for so many things I admired. We also refused Don Wilshe's application for different (yet similar) reasons. We're not out to turn anyone down out of spite, and I don't appreciate the implication that we're trying to be an elitist group. If I had never heard of huggins, I would probably have let him in, but I did, the memory of it stuck out, and I reacted accordingly. I stand by my claim that I did it for the good of the group.

That's the biggest problem. "Once a crook, always a crook." The name doesn't ring a bell for me, and I raced back in the Hawaii days myself. So, I have to defer to the ones 'in the know'. Personally, it wouldn't bother me if Robert raced. One, I'm always last(or damn near) anyway - so one more driver in front wouldn't matter. Two, this was five years ago? There are people who get out of jail sooner for MURDER... It's a no win situation for Robert. If he races and doesn't win, people might say "See? He can't win without cheating". If he *does* win, people might say "See? I *told* you he cheated..." It's a tough spot for me to be in, but if I have to make a call... I'd lean towards giving him a chance. I can see both sides, and I've changed my mind a couple of times. I hope I don't regret that decision... You were too damned slow to be a cheater. :) Don Burnette Tim wrote:

Eldred, you have hit the nail on the head. Dammed if you and dammed if you don't. What, who was spreading that vicious rumor. (-: I think most anyone that has won a race decisively has been accused of cheating at one time or another. I've been booted from non league races because it was thought that I cheated. My philosophy is simple, if I have to cheat to win then it is not worth the effort. As far as Chris's deal went, It is not a public league and he was not accused of cheating. I won't get into specifics but it had nothing to do with whether or not Chris may be cheating and I believe that point was stressed.
