Well, after about 30 minutes of practice, I can run into the 16.7's, but
more reliably in the 16.8's.
How is everyone else doing?
Who is shifting once, and who is shifting twice ?
Personally, just like Sears Point, I think they left one of the gears just
one notch off. It hurts coming out of the right hander into the tight left
hander.
Which should tell you I'm shifting once :)

I shift back up just getting into 5, the tight left hander, I red line too
soon to ride it and then let the higher gear slow the car into the corner,
downshift and come off the corner in third, back up to fourth coming up to
the first turn. My times are down to 1:18.xx, biggest problem at this point
is every once in a while I come out of 4 (right hander) high/wide and get
squirrely, usually end up bouncing off a wall. I hope I can avoid that in
the race but it means driving conservativly and that means not
competing.......hmm, conservative and finish the race or go for it and wreck
(maybe), hmmmm....................... :-)

This is exactly why I was saying that, once again, the fixed setup missed
the gear settings by one notch. One notch more and you could downshift
coming into the sweeping right-hander, have FAR more acceleration coming out
of it, and not have to upshift before coming to the tight left-hander. It
would _completely_ change how you drive the track, make it much more fun,
and produce better lap times.
I actually did quite a bit of practice doing just that, and hitting the rev
limiter about 50 feet too soon coming in to the tight left-hander. It was
producing better lap times but I blew up on the front-straight twice during
practice when in the draft.
Just one more notch... :)

I think the setup was fine. Just like any other road course, you
gotta learn where and how much abuse to dish out to your car.
My point is one small adjustment would make it a LOT better. I know, I did
it offline.

Hehehe... dish out the required amount of punishment and get some of that
"random" damage for your trouble. <vbg>
