Ok, all you brainiac's. I've been living with this for several years, and
I'm fed up with it. I need idea's...
How DO you turn off that GD registration Nag-Screen that comes up in Quicken
when you launch it ?
I don't WANT to register. I'm TIRED of registering it. I've REGISTERED the
GD thing at least 10 times already.
Everytime I have to rebuild my system, I have to satisfy this things
insatiable desire to be registered with the Mothership!
And now, it's even worse. This time, it wanted to FORCE me to create an
online account with Intuit to finish the registration. That is the last
straw. I wanna rip it out of there by the roots.
Registry hack anyone? DLL Mangle of any kind?
Thanks. I feel better now. At least until I enter my checks for the day :(
For heavens sake, all I want to do is manage my checking register without
being pestered by these people.
Second question. Does Microsoft Money have Product Activation?

Stopping Quicken's registration nag screen
Larry asked how to stop Quicken 2002's endless registration reminder on his legitimate copy. Suggestions included entering fake details, while others commiserated about software that nags paying customers.

I dont use Quicken Larry but I do use Quickbooks Pro. QBP is a two number
serial. The first you enter as you install QBP the 2nd you need to use the
"Phone support" option but instead of calling in you use a reg number
supplied from Intuit from the original install. Do you have a "phone
support" option?

Ok, let's try this again :)
Quicken 2002 does NOT use a serial number, activation, or any other such
thing.
It does nag you to _register_ the software (an optional thing with just
about every other software company) forever at startup unless you do so.
I used to live with it. I'd do it, just to get it over with.
But now they have changed the registration. You are _forced_ to sign up for
an online Intuit account for your 'online banking', which I don't give a
Rats-Ass about, if you want to complete the registration.
I just want to get rid of the registration nag-ware. It is NOT required to
use the software at all. It's just a pain in the ass.
:)

Is this something you can configure a spreadsheet program to do? I did
take a look at an old Quicken accounts package and decided I could do a
whole lot better, with more control and add more features when needed,
if I just set up a spreadsheet prog. to do the same. It took a little
time to set up, but it suits my needs. :)

Yea, but if you have already registered it once you should be able to
select "never register" as most other apps do. I had a game once that
did this every time you ran it but after about three times of running
it it would finally come up with an option to never register. Pain in
the ass and your damn right I emailed the pricks and reamed them out.
The game was Starfleet Command. A way to usually fix this reg BS is to
just search for a crack or serial.

Yes, but most software will just shut up if you click a "don't register" or
"register later" option. Quicken even has a "don't register" button but it
still nags you every few times you start it. All of my sims are content to
be unregistered.

Yep, they should. But they harrass you because they want to make sure
you did pay their overinflated prices. People who pirate know how to
bypass their crap real quick so they are really not accomplishing much
except pissing off, and losing, legit customers.

Like I said, I _used_ to just do it but now they have extended the reg page
to force you to create an Intuit online banking account, and it won't
complete the registration unless you do.

Hmm, didn't they release a patch for that? I seem to remember reading
something about loads of complaints about Quicked activation and a
patch released to appease the angry customers.
That was TurboTax 2002, and it was to disable the Product Activation (which
proved to be a disaster for Intuit - I just wish other companies would learn
from their experience).
That's different than registration.
