F1C - How Do You Keep the AI From Running Out of Fuel?

I converted SBDT's Laguna Seca to work in F1C, added a laguna.gdb file, set the race length and pit strategies appropriately, stored a default setup for the AI, etc. but in a quick race they always run out of fuel on lap 5. How do you prevent this from happening?

One way is to edit the AIW file in the track's directory. Use any text editor to open the file and look under the [Waypoint] heading. There will be a line something like "FuelUse=" and a number. You will have to use trial and error to figure out what number is accurate for your track. I have been doing test runs at 5-10 lap intervals and adjusting as needed.
Yes that looks like that could be it. I forgot this was a GTR track originally, not an F1 track. If I divide "FuelUse" by "lap_length" for most of the F1 tracks it comes out to about 20 somethingorothers/meter, whereas the number is about half that in the laguna.aiw file. So they are probably only carrying about half as much fuel as they need. Also looks like I need to adjust some other things. Thanks. Just to confirm, using a formula of "FuelUse = lap_length x 20" in the .aiw file seems to work fine. I just ran a 15% race with the AI and they had no fuelling problems. I really should have run a longer race but didn't have time, and forgot about the fuel use factor setting in the menus. Nevertheless this stopped them from running out of fuel on lap 5 and the above formula is pretty consistent with the couple of other F1 tracks that I looked at. Now I'm off to go convert a few more GTR tracks... BTW converting F1 2002 tracks is not as hard as some people make it. You don't need subdirectories of the track file unless you are going to make the track different in different seasons or you want a different .gdb file for each season. I just dumped the laguna directory from GTR into the circuits directory in F1C, adjusted the paths in the .scn file, copied the .gdb file from Indy and adjusted it to be correct for this track, changed the filter line in the .gdb file to make it valid for all four seasons, and of course now I see the aiw file has to be adjusted also. Once you know what to do it takes about 5 minutes each. The only potential problem I see is multiplayer racing on converted tracks. If everybody converts them differently I don't think they will match up. "Haqsau" <[email hidden]> wrote in message news:bevhjs$9ejta$[email hidden]... > Yes that looks like that could be it.
