Anyone who has played the game A LOT have any pointers as to the best and most realistic settings for this game? I mean whats the best for realism in terms of dynamics - tyre wear, mechnical failures, fuel rates etc adssuming Im racing a 50% race length? Ive heard tak about needing to put up tyre wear to 6x or 7x? Is that more realistic? There certainly doesnt seem to be much happen in a 50% race. Also does it make much of a diffrence running 100% races on 1x fuel, failures and tyres? Do you get more realistic drop outs etc? Also what does everone use in terms of assistance - generally I use everything off except traction control on low or high, and automatic clutch and gears. Is this realistic? -- Nigel 'Nats' Stutt [email hidden] "Its life, Jim, but not as we know it."

Not sure about the other ones but I don't think either of the traction control settings are very realistic. We need Medium traction control. Traction control High is pretty reliable and it seems to act fairly realistically at first, but after playing around a lot with it I am convinced that it will not let you push the rear tires hard enough. You can see this in the tire temps at some tracks, and also if you go back and forth from low TC to high TC and see what happens to the temps it is very clear. Low TC isn't realistic either. It's very touchy and you still have to modulate the throttle a lot. That's not realistic, there have been plenty of comments from CART and F1 racers that when TC is properly set up you want to step on it hard to make sure it engages because if it doesn't engage quickly you will slide the tires. But in F1C with low TC stepping on it hard will just make you spin. Realistic shifting would be auto upshifting only. TC-Low feels fairly good to me.

That TEACHES you something about mashing the throttle (the hard way ;) that kinda stays BURNED in your mind no matter what car you drive... Regards, Rudy

You can tweak the TC to your heart's desire in the HDV files: TractionControlGrip=(1.00, 0.20) // average driven wheel grip multiplied by 1st number, then added to 2nd TractionControlLevel=(0.30, 0.90) // effect of grip on throttle for low TC and high TC But it IS a shame they didn't allow more adjustment from in the car so it wouldn't cause file conflicts online. The real drivers have more choices than low, high and off, to be sure. A wheel dial with about 5-10 clicks would've been nice. I was also disappointed with F1C in that they didn't allow players more ability to map the auto-trans settings similarly from say, the PLR file. It would be nice to be able to personalize the shift logic; as it is I just run full manual shifting since the auto doesn't do what I want it to. SB
