I just recently upgraded my severely aging AMD K6-2 450mhz pc to a more respectable AthlonXP 2500+ unit. To put this new machine to the test, I decided to finally fire up the copy of GTR2002 (installed over F12002 Demo) that had never been run - As I didn't think the old 450mhz could run it in any reasonable manner. All I can say is, "WOW"! What an incredible product!! I would be raving about GTR2002 even if I had just payed $49.95 for it, as it is the best racing/driving sim I have played. The fact that it is completely free (runs just fine over the demo version of F12002) is just an added bonus. I know this is all old news to you guys, but I just had to share my enthusiasm for this fine product. I bought MS Flight Sim 2004 last week($54.99), but I haven't even had a chance to install it, as I've been too busy racing GTR2002. One question: I'm sure I could pick up a retail copy of F12002 pretty cheap now, maybe around $10. Would I be gaining anything other than more tracks by doing this? I have no desire to play F12002, so having the full version of it is not really valuable to me. I don't really need the additional tracks at this point, as I'm having trouble enough "mastering" (I use that term very loosely!) the GTR2002 included tracks. ok... one more question: My finances didn't allow me to upgrade my video card with the rest of the pc, so I'm still running a GeForce 256 DDR (yes, what we now refer to as a "GeForce 1"). What would give me the most bang-for-the-buck when upgrading the video card. My budget is probably no more than $150 for this. I'm thinking a GeForce 4 Ti 4200 might be a good compromise between performance and value. Any thoughts? I'm not a hard-core gamer, but do enjoy sims the most, so performance is reasonable important. Thanks, Pat

The GF4 TI should be the bare minimum you buy ....(I have a GF3 ti 200 it works ok...but....) [do not get ANY gf 4 mx--that is just an overclocked GF2] If you can get the 128meg version. We have at least one track that crashes with a full Le Mans Field {50 cars} and 64 meg video cards. There are about 10 other mods available for F1 2k2. There are roughly 80 tracks available for the F1 2k2 mods. Almost all will be eventually available for F1 Challenge. IF you are serious about Flight Sim 2k4 then getting a newer video card is pretty much essential. FS has always killed outdated hardware. With Rebates you can get an $150 ATI 9600(compUSA this week) which should outpace the Ti and be dx9 compliant.
Mate... according to RAS regular HOPHEAD there is no such thing as a Geforce 1 DDR... You sadly are mistaken it is really an SDR ,sorry for any disappointment. AD

Hey Aidee, have you noticed other people leaving in text that they are replying to? There are reasons for that, the first and foremost being that ISP newsservers are not all the same. A lot of the time a reply will show up before the actual topic on a persons newsserver. If you snip everything you are replying to, some people just don't know what the heck you are talking about. Please leave in some context. BUT, please don't go to the other extreme, and leave in ALL the text. Quoting a huge message to add in one or two lines of text is extremely annoying. Basically, the demo only has Australia. Having the full F12002 would allow you to drive the rest of the F1 tracks that don't come with GTR (Belgium, France, Great Britain are included in the GTR mod)
Yes there were/are. I owned a GF 1 DDR from Creative. Then a GF2, Then a GF3 Ti200, Then a GF4 Ti 4400. Now Radeon 9700 Pro.
