I know the big one in the middle is the rev counter, but what do the others show? Are they useful or are they just there for decoration? R.

The only one I keep an eye on is the fuel pressure gauge, it starts going down when you have 2 gallons left. There's also oil pressure and oil temp, but I never seem to have time to look at them, and I rarely blow engines (I crash before they get the chance ;-)) so I don't find them all that useful. You get digital readouts of this info in F10 view, and there's a hex edit I used to put these readouts into the cockpit view. Have a look on racesimcentral for that, I find it easier to read than the dials in the heat of the moment. tbh if you are running low on fuel or losing oil there's not much you can do about it, you just learn by experience to add a couple of extra gallons and look after the engine. In that respect the dials aren't that useful imo, since by the time they tell you about a problem it's too late ;-) Malc.

The oil pressure is easiest to find, since at idle it will read low, then quickly rise to full pressure when you raise the engine revs. In the latest GPLEA Lotus this is the left-hand gauge's upper section. To find the fuel pressure gauge, put 2 gallons or more in the car & check the dials, then reduce the fuel load to 1 gallon & re-check. One dial will be lower. In the car above this is the second dial from the right. The oil temperature (and water temperature) gauges will initially be low, and if you sit in the pitlane with your foot floored (in training mode with no damage) you will see them both rise, and although I don't know which is which, the effect is the same. Too much high revs at low speed will make the temperature rise. In the GPLEA Lotus I assume the bottom half of the left-hand gauge is oil temperature, and the one just to the right of the rev-counter is water temperature. In the GPLEA Lotus there's another gauge on the far right that I assume is voltage, but I've never noticed it move. If you use a high-res dash & a huge screen resolution you may be able to read the gauges yourself, but as I said before, as long as you look after your engine you can pretty much ignore everything but the rev-counter ;-) Malc.

Have a look on the racesimcentral.com forums. I think someone posted labelled screenshots a while ago. Alternatively, the GPLEA dashes are so detailed now you can often read the labels on the dials.
