What a sad episode and an embarrassment to not only Nascar but EVERY racer. Robbie Gordon should not be sitting at Pocono he should be sitting for life. Everyone watching that race KNEW what Gordon was going to do to Ambrose. No doubt whatsoever. Just like any idiot simracer (Fredrickson comes to mind) he proves he's incapable of actually racing anything and proves it over and over without real consequences. It's way past time that Gordon's sponsors took action and it's up to EVERYONE to let them know Robbie Gordon has NO business racing anything EVER! When sponsorship CAUSES the folks to stop buying their products the money for this idiot will dry up as it should. FUCK ROBBIE GORDON

Point is, he ignored Nascar's black flag under caution directing him to stay behind the 33 car (12th place). Instead, he stayed right behind the leader, and then took him out when the race restarted. I'm glad to see they penalized him heavily by making him sit out today's Cup race.

True - though if things happened the way it was first described to me then NASCAR would deserve a lot of the blame. I'm still trying to fully understand what happened. I mean, Gordon was obviously taken out by Ambrose after passing him. On the youtube video you only see Gordon make a pass for the lead and then immediately get taken out by Ambrose. What led up to that isn't shown on the video. Ambrose's right rear corner was busted up by then - the commentators even mentioned it, and that taking Gordon out might have been payback. Seems to me that the question is when did that last yellow come out. According to the TV coverate the yellow was already out before all that Gordon/Ambrose action took place. Looks to me like Gordon should have gotten second place back. I don't know the NASCAR rule book, but lot's of people say the rule is that if you spin during a yellow you get your place back, and that it happens all the time. Pat Dotson

Gordon passed Ambrose then got a bit loose (or was blocking) and Ambrose did spin him. I thought that the full course yellow came out about the time that Ambrose first made contact with Gordon. The corner yellow was out quite a bit before the full course yellow. This is what is so confusing about the whole thing. The corner yellows don't have anything to do with freezing the field, although you must slow to a safe speed and there is no overtaking in that corner. Gordon was put back to 12th place by Nascar as they said that was his position after he resumed pace speed. That is when Gordon started his 2yr old tirade. His spotter and crew chief both told him to go back to his position and Gordon said "NO!". The big loser in this whole thing was Ambrose. I really respect him for his comments and actions after all this. My take on the whole thing is that Gordon's overall actions were detrimental to the sport of racing, not just Nascar. I think he got off easy. I had recorded the race and looked at the incident over and over and this is what I saw. Of course, others may see it differently. Ed

If it was anyone but Robby Gordon, I'd probably listen to his explanation and maybe even sympathize with him. No doubt his spotter told him that all hell was breaking loose behind him, so he knew the caution was coming, and not just a local yellow. So he decides to try and pass before that happens. The distance between where the crashes were and when the pass was made was not very far, so I suspect that the pass was AFTER the full course yellow comes out, but I can't see anything on the race coverage. Knowing NASCAR's history with throwing cautions at the slightest provocation, I don't think this was the time they were tardy. I suspect his pass came late, then he gets spun and loses a ton of spots. NASCAR tells him to drop to 12th or so and he loses his mind. How they in good conscience allowed that race to resume without RG either in the proper spot or parked is beyond me. The whole world knew he was going to spin Ambrose. Yet NASCAR does nothing to prevent it and a result, the driver, team and sponsor suffers. Ridiculous decisions by NASCAR and RG, imo. Gordon should see some stiffer penalties as well.

They should have red flagged the race, and pulled him out of the race if he wouldn't move to the proper position.
> > Gordon passed Ambrose then got a bit loose (or was blocking) and Ambrose > did spin him. I thought that the full course yellow came out about the time I was at the race (in T1) and the local/full course yellows were kind of chaotic (actually the opening green flag didn't fly until half the grid was past the starters stand), so nobody will ever know if Gordon got past Ambrose cleanly or not, but it looked like the pass meant Gordon was a lot slower out of the corner and Ambrose got a better bite, racing incident in my mind. Agree about the Gordon tantrum thing after that. Actually what really reminded me of sim racing was Patrick Carpentier, right after he took the checker in 2nd he thru the car into a long backwards spin for the fans just like most guys in our league do!

IMO, he should have been stopped on the track and physically removed, if required, if he could not comply with a simple request from race control. As far as the restart with the big crash right behind the leaders, if you watch the tape as Robby and Marcus go out of the frame, Robby has his bumper right to Marcus' quarterpanel, and the next view from the cameras shows Marcus repaying Robby, or, if you prefer, racing just like Robby was racing. Robby did not get screwed, Marcus did.......Robby should have his card pulled indefinitely. Pathetic all around. ed
I know we all like to see good old fashioned racing and sportsmanship, but don't you think, just for a moment, that the drama that spurned all these comments was in itself pretty damn funny? I mean I feel bad for Ambrose and figure he was cheated out of a win, yet I was very entertained by Robbie's antics and if they had put them together after the race, like Michael Vicks dogs, I would have been further entertained.
