Just installed CMR3 (non-demo) - and I'm well disappointed. No arcade play. No custom cam view. Washed out colours - giving a sense of remoteness. Crap physics - cars just pivot at the centre. Just isn't immersive or even engaging. Glad I only paid 19 quid for this pile of shite. Version 2 is a much better deal - so I'm continuing to play with that. CMR 3.0 going cheap ..... any takers ?

Reviews are frequently subjective, commercially-biased and misleading. Given the minimal outlay, I thought it was worth cutting through all that and seeing for myself. Last time I do that, for sure. Given also, the quality of CMR2 (broadly) - it's highly surprising that they came out with this POS. > > spilt milk lad... > > AD > >

Well, you could have at least tried it before you bought it. I find it amusing to see this many original games being bought. I don't remember when was the last time I saw an original of any game or program here in Croatia. -- Never underestimate the power of stupid people in large groups. ICQ: 138579247

Just goes to show the state of mind in Croatia. Most of the rest of the world calls that pirated software. Would you still pirate the titles if they were made locally and your fellow citizens relied on the sales of their software for revenues?

Of course I'm for buying original cds, but I would never buy a game before trying it out first. On the other hand, imagine giving 1/3 or 1/2 of what you earn a month for a game! Yes, there are some local products, and I've never seen an original of them either. -- Never underestimate the power of stupid people in large groups. ICQ: 138579247
How do you afford to buy a PC then? Remember these are games and SHOULD be considered luxury items. If you can't afford them, you don't buy them. You don't steal them. "Dalibor Bauernfrajnd" <[email hidden]> wrote in message news:[email hidden]...

Agreed, that _is_ the right point of view, but sounds laughable for most of ppl in Croatia, BiH, Serbia, Slovenia etc. -- Never underestimate the power of stupid people in large groups. I was lucky to get a job (first one, I'm 21) and work for around 6 months before having to quit (another story). If it weren't for that, I'd be still using a 7 year old Pentium 133. I paid $500 for a xp1700/512 ddr/40gb/gf4mx based pc. I was a salesperson in a hi-fi audio/video store (I'm an audiophile) and was paid $300/month for 8-10h/day, and was lucky to get it. My fathers last job was paid around $270/month. The lowest pay check here (by law) is $230, and most people work for $250-300. With around $500/month your life here would be rather easy. Everything over $800/month and you're a rich man. Things in Serbia are even worse ($70-80/month being the usuall), but food prices are down too. But software costs the same in US, here, and in Serbia (ex YU). No wonder there are no legal copies around when sometimes we can't even afford some blank cdrs. Oh, sorry, I'm talking too much :) Sorry if there are any typos/spelling issues :) Greetings from Croatia, Osijek (http://www.hr). -- "We still have much to learn about the art of sound reproduction; ultimately, our responsibility is to our ears, not to established precepts." - Martin Colloms, January 1998

Yow... :-( >Oh, sorry, I'm talking too much :) >Sorry if there are any typos/spelling issues :) Don't worry about it. In fairness to CodeMasters, patch 1.1 seemed to improve things a little - but Negatives Forcefeedback still needs a lot of work - even at minimal setting, it's still too ponderous. Scenery is too "misty" - not as defined as CMR2, which makes seeing where you're going difficult. Swedish roads are VERY narrow - as they are elsewhere : the ideal compensation for this would have been the inclusion of arcade racing - much more fun. Physics are poor : cars pivot in the middle, so steering a straight line is nigh-on impossible - and handling just isn't credible. Keyboard navigation is infuriatingly slow (is this meant to add style, gravitas ? Because it's INCREDIBLY annoying). Positives The scenery and skies are pretty. On balance - this to my mind, is no upgrade on CMR2 - which remains the more convincing, a better driving experience and ultimately, more fun. CMR 3.0 is really CMR 1.9 I gotta say I'm very disappointed and feel a bit ripped. It's difficult to imagine that any patch can address these fundamental issues, so let's hope that CMR4 turns out to be what CMR3 really ought to have been. Ehem ..... the "problem" was that I needed to max out the graphics. Had them set very conservatively - but now they're sorted, vision is superb and even the narrowest roads are navigable. 16-bit colour paints purple mist in Greek stages and psychedelic cloud colours in UK storm conditions. 32-bit colour unlocks the full glory of a genuine piece of art. > Swedish roads are VERY narrow - as they are elsewhere : the ideal > compensation for this would have been the inclusion of arcade racing -much > more fun. > Physics are poor : cars pivot in the middle, so steering a straight lineis

In my opinion there's little wrong with downloading a game that doesn't have a demo, for evaluation purposes only. Keep it for say, a day, while you make your purchasing decision. This is solely because of the Draconian return policies (or lack thereof) at game stores. There's not a store in my city of 2 million people that accepts returns on game software. So if the product is crap ... you are SOL.
