Sidewinder Wheel pedals reversing axis question

I use my sidewinder wheel pedals as rudders in flight sims, as well as driving games. The problem is when in combined axis mode they give reversed dx input. This doesn't matter as all games have an option to reverse axis - until now. The lockon - modern air combat demo has no such option - maybe it will in final. In the meantime I was wondering what would happen if I cut the centre wire to each pot (red on one pot, yellow on the other), and just connected up yellow to red, and red to yellow. When in split axis mode it will just change the axis for brake and pedals, but would it reverse the axis in combined mode. Anybody into electronics know if I could do any harm ? TIA for any help

please ignore - just went to the forum and apparently the reverse option will be included on the final release - I guess I'll fly without rudders for a few months :)
