I have never had any sound trouble before with an Abit BF6 P3-1000 and
SBLive Platinum in XP playing GPL. This weekend I finally got around to
putting in my new Asus P4T-E i850 mainboard, a P4 1.8 and 512MB of PC800. I
applied the CPU speed patch and the soundpatch and was back racing in no
time. However when I first get in the car, the engine sound is all muffled
and underwater sounding. A bit of crackle too. As soon as a make contact
and a thump noise is played all sound goes back to normal. No problem for
offline hotlaps, but not workable for multiplayer vroc.
Sound in all other games, DVD, winamp etc is totally normal and functioning
properly.
