Best graphics card for GP3 and F1 2000

A user with a fast processor asked which graphics card would run GP3 and F1 2000 at maximum detail. Owners recommended GeForce2 GTS cards, reporting full detail at high resolutions, and noted the Voodoo5 needed single-chip mode or FSAA in GP3. The poster bought a GeForce2 card.

I'd have to say GeForce2 GTS, on my K7 700 it runs GP3 @ 1280x1024, set to 25.6fps , everything on inc mirrors and I get 70-80% PO as for F12000 all I can say is WOW! 1024x768 High/Max Detail with FSAA enabled @ about 40fps. And in case anyone was wondering the graphical difference between F12K and GP3 go here http://www.strategic-plus.co.uk/gp3vsf12k/GP3%20vs%20F12K.htm As for Physics I'd have to say F12k Wins Cheers , Jason TH <[email hidden]> wrote in message news:rlmh5.8052$[email hidden]...

Hi, A bit off topic, but then again maybe not..... Provided with a powerfull processor, say P3-800 or so......Whats the best graphics card for the new sims around? Specifically I think of GP3 and F1-2000.....I really wanna run these games with maximum details and good framerate.... I dont wanna wait for "future" cards....so it must be a question between these 2 I guess: Voodoo 5 5500 or Geforce 2? I'm leaning more towards GeForce2, but then some posts says that Geforce2 doesnt work that good with GP3 (?) And does the brand mean anything? E.g. is Guillemot as good as Asus? What do you guys run with? Tia, -TH

Well on the V5 in GP3 (and GPL) you have to either switch the board to single-chip mode or turn on FSAA to get acceptable performance. With both chips in use and FSAA off, this card just doesn't get along with GP3. As for GTS cards, the Creative looks to be the cheapest. Jason, do you have a 32meg or 64meg GeForce 2 GTS ?? The PC I ordered arrives next week with a 64meg GTS 2, and my old V2 12meg piggy back (for my older, Glide-only games) It's a PIII 933 with 128meg of PC133 RAM on an ASUS 133Mhz motherboard, and I'm curious to know how F1-2000, GP3, RC2000/Mobil 1 Rally, GPL, etc will run. Sorry I should have said what brand... Currently I have the Guillemot 3D Prophet II GTS 32Mb (5.33 Drivers) , I used to have the Creative Labs GTS which gave a slightly higher 3DMark score but actual game performance is Identical between the two. I've since beaten the Creative score by o/c the GTS (3dmark=6045) but I don't see the point (Yet! :)) of overclocking it when I can still play Unreal tourny @ 1600x1200 32bit @50-70fps..:0). 32MB, with that system you shouldn't have any worries as with the GTS my CPU runs out of steam way before the video card does so you should see even higher results than mine (Bah! off to scrounge a 1Ghz (for testing of course:))) Cheers, Jason Jay J <[email hidden]> wrote in message news:9nrh5.6615$[email hidden]...

Mainly for the TV-Out feature (TV's close to puter and I've got quite a few DVD's & I needed to create some in store game demo's on video) Plus it's part of my Job to test 'em (my boss is awalys asking what card I've got this week :0) ) I'll be looking at the ATI Radeon Next but I'm definitly be keeping the 3D Prophet II for Personel use.....(unless they bring out a Dual Head GTS & not the crippled MX).. Still back to the grind. (At work now) I'm about to try F12k on the ATI Maxx.... Life's a bitch :0) TH <[email hidden]> wrote in message news:Kiwh5.8149$[email hidden]...

with that sort of processor, by a geforce card and get a voodoo 3 2000 pci or a v30000 pci for 3dfx games (GPL!! springs to mind ..) then you will cover all games superbly.

Thx for all suggestions... Just purchased a Prophet II 64 and a P3-800.... The prophet looks good....However the store a bought in, hasent got their act together...turns out that my mobo ONLY runs 100Mhz....and the CPU I got was with the 6X multiplier....so currently Im only running 600MHz....crap. Have tried F1-2000 so far.....runs with everything turned on....looks beautifully. Anyone knows how to view fps in this game?
