Since today, everytime i start the game, ZoneAlarm alerts me that GP3
(the Class warez one) wants to communicate to the internet....
Has it happened to anyone?
Any reason what the hell it wants to do that?
To me, either it's a trojan in the Class version or Hasbro wants to
know about us...
Watch out!
GP3 tries to connect to the internet at startup
A user of the warez GP3 reported that ZoneAlarm warned the game was trying to reach the internet and suspected a trojan or Hasbro tracking. Others with the retail version saw the same behaviour, and Simon Brown suggested it was simply probing for network devices as GPL does. One user found the behaviour stopped after reverting from Windows ME.

Ummm, maybe GP3 really *wants* to go out and play on the internet,
but Sir Geoffrey and Lord Bernie won't let it? :)

I bought this up Friday and I also am running WinME with the retail copy
of GP3. So maybe WinME is the culprit, why it should do that who knows.
Would be interesting if someone with more knowledge could look at the
logs of ZoneAlarm and see what's going on though.

This behavoiur exists in the retail version - don't know about the warez.
So if it's a can of worms, it's of the Hasbro brand ;)

Whether it was added to the warez version by some cyber creep
or by hasbro, if true it would be hilarious.

Nah, saw someone else mention this the other day too. Probably
something to do with MP.

It's probably just checking for any kind of network or communication device,
just like GPL does when you run it.

Yes that would certainly be a reasonable explanation.
Maybe it is doing so much of that checking that the multiplay
can't work properly :-)

I don't have WinME, so that isn't the problem. The only reason I noticed
is because my games computer connects to the internet through my other
server, and the routing software I use lets me know when connections are
initiated - and one is whenever GP3 starts up..

So maybe WinME is the culprit, why it should do that who knows.Same thing happens to me (with the WAREZ). I use Guard Dog instead of
Zone Alarm, and I get the same warning. Of course, I answer "no" to the
question of whether I want to allow it to connect. Who knows what the
reason is for trying to connect......

about a log. I even told it to look for an upgrade it found nothing. .
