Do sim racers drive barefoot, in socks or slippers

Aidee polled the group on footwear for sim racing. Answers ranged from bare feet and socks to slippers, trainers and Birkenstocks. Some noted that pedal stiffness and feel affected the choice.

Socks and shoes, 90% of the time, except in the height of summer, when I wear nothing but shorts & T-shirt. But as I don't use pedals, it really doesn't matter, does it? :) Do you want to know whether we wear driving gloves or not? How about headwear? Bruce. Barefoot. Except when racing NASCAR. The pedals get too hot :>) "Aidee" <[email hidden]> wrote in message news:bm7cp4$fi1$[email hidden]...

If they are very light to the touch then its probable that you would find it difficult to feel whats going on if you were wearing a pair of trainers. This is certainly what I found with my pedals. However, both my pedals have been given extra oomph by placing a tennis ball behind each, which means that I can wear a pair of soft trainers and still feel the pedals pushing back quite well. -- Peter Ives - (AKA Ivington) Remove ALL_STRESS before replying No person's opinions can be said to be more correct than another's, because each is the sole judge of his or her own experience.

It used to be slippers for me, but after shredding a pair I switched to Converse All-Stars.

LOL! I chuckle everytime I read this question (and it comes up a lot) but it is a lot more harmless than a lot of the mud-slinging that goes on around here so I always give in and answer the poll: Socks. Or 'In my socking feet' as me mum would say. :-)

Racing barefoot has one other benefit. If you lose a spring, you can curl your toe around the pedal and pull it back :) -Larry "SimRacer" <[email hidden]> wrote in message news:nVhib.47714$[email hidden]... > > "Aidee" <[email hidden]> wrote in message > news:bm7cp4$fi1$[email hidden]... > > Do we drive bare-footed ,in socks ,in slippers ,or intrainers/shoes....?

I am a bit pussyfooted getting on the "gas" out of corners. I find wearing slippers helps me get my foot down. :-) Graham Aidee wrote:

To add to that I also feel I am more precise with slippers. Driving in socks the pedal seems to shift position under my foot which means the depression of the pedal is not constant for a given angle of the foot. :-) Graham Graham H wrote:
