Hey guys. COMPUSA has AMA Superbike available for free after a mail-in rebate. My question to all of you is if the manufacturer ever got the bugs worked out? Free is a pretty decent price to pay, but if it's still a dog why bother. As one of you once said "you can't polish a turd!" Thanks for the help. -- See ya in the pits, Deano I have a terrible memory. In fact it's so bad that I can't remember how long it's been since I've forgotten anything.

Every review I've read about it says it a piece of crap... If you don't mind parting with your $$$ for a couple of months until you get your rebate, then I'd say go for it... That's how I got CPR, and I played it a half dozen times or so, until I wiped it off my HD... I've not heard any plans for a patch, and if they are letting it go for that kind of deal, they're probably just trying to get it off their shelves, and out of their warehouses.... Jay J rebate. My question to all of you is if the to pay, but if it's still a dog why bother. As long it's been since I've forgotten anything.

Two points... AMA has the bar none best recreation of Mid Ohio. If you've been saddle with the old ICR2 conversion then you will be amazed at Mid Ohio's undulating nature. AMA will be test bed for the upcomming Trans Am sim. Since they use many of the same tracks, I think anyone with AMA will have that much of a head start over other V8 gladiators. That said..I'm really tempted. But man, I don't have enough time to devote to my sims as it is....Thats all I need...hehehe dave henrie

Step away from the steaming piece of crap. This is the note... it's not finished and I personaly wouldn't expect it to ever be 100% finished. The program was practicaly released in stores as a beta. The software has a program which logs on to their site and downlods the latest version of the program. Personaly I thaught the handeling was shit... the graphics were shit... the MP was shit... and I'm not really sure what MotorSims was thinking when the made the beautiful thing called a superbike look like a 125cc GP bike (if you see any rear or head on shots you'll see what I mean... the bike looks 4-6 inches wide.. http://www.amasb.com/downloads/online.htm -Test the demo before you buy. It'll tell you everything. But ofcourse it is free... so if you don't mind waiting 4-6 weeks for the rebate... feel free and have your self another coaster. *and as always this is just my opinion... but I do stick by what I say*

>Hey guys. COMPUSA has AMA Superbike available for free after a mail-in rebate. My question to all of you is if the pay, but if it's still a dog why bother. As I had the misfortune to preorder my copy direct from Motorsims, waiting months in anticipation. Bummer. This steaming pile is the answer to the question of whether or not it's possible to get something for free and still not get your money's worth. To be a turd this program would have to improve dramatically. They are currently promising a FIFTH patch, and it will will STILL be a turd. They have been accused of shipping beta. The people who claim this are wrong, they shipped alpha by any pros definition of alpha. Many modules have yet to be implented, like replay, several month after release. In the initial release they didn't even have a start light. You kinda figured out the race had started after the field roared away from you. Pretty damn lame. The graphics are mediocre and the colors look like you're watching a bad TV feed. It drops frames like crazy, and this is BEFORE you go online. All of this would be ok if they had given this stuff up for network performance, but their first online event had to be canceled because it couldn't handle it. Months later it still hasn't been reschedualed. I still have it on my hd, and I still check in with them once in a while to see what line of bull their handing out these days. It dosn't look like things are inproving. I honestly can't figure why they'd even what to give this puppy away for free. Every copy that gets into the hands of someone who hasn't seen it before is one more person who won't buy their next release. I'm serious here. Their best business stratagy would be to get every copy in existence and burn them. I repeat. I'm SERIOUS here. This isn't hyperbole. Dear Motorsims, you should BURN every copy of this turkey. Do it NOW. Buy them back from people if you have to. DO NOT continue to distribute. You are only hurting whatever reputation you have left. By the way, I've just finished two days of not being able to tear myself away from SBK2000. It isn't perfect, I've come up with a couple of gripes, but it's pretty damn good.

Stay away from AMA. If you want two beautifully done bike sims, spend your money on Microprose's GP500 and the upcoming Superbike 2000 from EA. AMA Superbike should be in the "free bargain bin", even then I probably wouldn't bother taking a copy it sucks so bad. I'd also suggest not falling for this company's tactics of ripping off customers with false advertising. If you truly need to check out their next joke of a sim Trans Am, buy it at EB, so you can return it after you've played it and laughed your ass off.

Good to see that Im not the only person the world who see the potential behind the game engine. It has the best Elkhart Lake I have ever seen, it's a great trill. In fact, in terms of how powerful the game engine is, it's probably second to the new Papyrus game engine. Which doesn't mean it's a perfect title, but darn when you feel the bike get light up a hill at Mid Ohio, whatever your opinion of AMA SBK is, it's a great sensation. SBK 2000 can't even model front/rear brakes. -- -- Fran?ois Mnard <ymenard> -- May the Downforce be with you... -- http://www.WeRace.net -- People think it must be fun to be a super genius, but they don't realise how hard it is to put up with all the idiots in the world.
Hi MiN, I've missed your nuggets of wisdom and insight since I left Motorsims. But the gravitational pull of your brilliance simply pulled me back to this newsgroup. -DoK

Leaving Motorsims was the best move you could ever have made. Congratulations on moving up in the world. Please try and convince your former co-workers to do the same so this little wannabe sim company can just fade away quietly. Thank you.

People like you make my ironic signature file a reality. I feel pity for your family. How can you be that much against people who enjoy doing what they do, which is trying to put the best darn product on the market? I really am awaiting their next product. There is alot of potential in the game engine, it simply was not fully shown in their first attempt to a software. Wow big deal, but it seems people like you are simple-minded enough to have some weird illusions that Motorsims are Evil people. -- -- Fran?ois Mnard <ymenard> -- May the Downforce be with you... -- http://www.WeRace.net -- People think it must be fun to be a super genius, but they don't realise how hard it is to put up with all the idiots in the world.
We are currently working on a new patch. It addressed a lot of the bugs. It is no secret that our game launched with a lot of bugs. However we have fixed many of them. We have also added some cool new online features. Motorsims is not going away and will launch more products. If you judge us from our first release then judge the effort we are still committing to fixing it. We are releasing two more titles this year and more. I can't at this time say too much more without spoiling it. There are many great things coming from Motorsims. We really do enjoy what we are doing. There are no excuses to the first release. I will say that our next game will be allot better. We learned much from the first game. We also will miss Dok and his expertise. What's up Dok?:) Max has always been negative and I personally do not think this post or anyone else's post will change him. Max what games have you developed? Are you in a game company? It so which one? Has every title went perfect? What do you do at the company? If you made any mistakes have you flogged yourself with tar and feathers? Motorsims is committed to Motorsports and online gaming. Thanks, -Charles ymenard <[email hidden]> wrote in message news:8KYs4.292$[email hidden]...
