2 Papy's

8 posts by 6 people · 14 Feb 2000 - 15 Feb 2000

It's funny how I can have two such different opinions about the same company. Here's how it is in my mind - on the one hand there is David Kaemmer and his crew, probably wrapping up Nascar 4. Although the process for creating such a masterpiece is painstakingly slow, the result will speak for itself. Then there is the N3 gang. Somehow they circumvented the release of the real N3. It's beyond me that they would even be working on two versions of a Nascar sim at the same time. This group releases the "holy grail of Nascar race tracks" (Daytona Motor Speedway) to 100,000+ people who will probably throw it in the trash (fans at the race), then tells us we can't have it. They even go so far as to delete all posts on their precious little forums from anyone even discussing it. 2 Papy's IMHO. One rocks, the other sucks. --David Cook
Who said there were two teams working on two products at the same time? Could it be? Is it possible? That maybe the same team that did N3 is doing N4? (Deep Breath) OH MY! If that is the case, think of this: If there is only one team, they are still working on the trucks addon right? Maybe they havent even goten to N4 yet? Ouch Disclaimer: This is only my opinion and I really have no clue what Im talking about anyway so dont go thinking anything out of order or anything now.

In a way, I guess there is two Papy's - the one that we were all introduced to with a little jewel called Indy 500, and is still there to some point doing what they do best - then there's the one that answers to a higher power know as SIERRA. The deal with the Daytona track tho' I think is more ISC's/Daytona Speedway's call and not Sierra/Papyrus' - like an artist that paints a commissioned picture; the customer does what they want with it.... I'm trying to draw a comparison somehow. Let's say that your son has always wanted to go to the Daytona 500. He's been with you to a number of other races but this one you've never been able to see together. You are working on a business deal with a large firm and your boss gives you tickets to the race - with the stipulation that you take someone from the firm you are dealing with. Do you go? --David Cook

At least this suggests the "cool" Papy still exists.... which I doubt, to be honest.

Sure I go... and do whatever it takes to get another ticket for the kid.... <G> And if absolutely can't get another ticket, I would if my position in the company allowed it, hire my son long enough to attend the race, or make sure I took someone from the company that didn't like racing (they are out there, <shudder>) and let them back out at the last minute with not enough time to get anyone else, I'd take jr. Basic answer is yes, one way or another, he would be attending with me - but that's what ~I~ would do.....
