Guillemot Ferrari FF wheel not centered ;-(((

6 posts by 3 people · 01 Feb 2000 - 07 Feb 2000 04:26 UTC

Hi, i just buy a Guillemot Ferrari FF wheel, and i'm not able to calibrate it in Windows, i need to turn the wheel from15 to 30 degrees clockwise to point the center ;-(((, in GPL we can calibrate the wheel and it's OK, but 95% of the game on the market take Windows calibration and it's very annoying to turn the wheel to go straight, especially in RC2000 (narrow road), that my friend (Jim Clark) encourage me to play with, to challenge him ;-))). (if this problem is solved: i find the wheel very good, if it's not: piece of crap) HELP!!! a patch? any tweak? garbage? "Poele T-Fal"? T1? Gravis gamepad? Gameboy? an old RX7? Stone Cold Steve Austin? IT'S NOT ACCEPTABLE!! ;-) Cyrille

The fix is quite simple, but you have to take the wheel apart. Email me if you want to give it a try. I've also called Phillipe at Gmot's tech support and walked him through the fix. They are now offering it as an option instead of sending the wheels back for exchange. Slot
I am glad the customers know more than the Tech. support officials. This has certainly been my experience with the Ferrari wheel and Guillemot tech. support. Wow! Okay, I didn't expect so many requests. A couple weeks ago I started a 'How-To' article on this. I'll finish it by this weekend and post it or send it to those requesting it. Again, this fix will apply forces to both sides of the wheel evenly so the wheel won't spring back off center. Its a fairly easy fix and obviously, once its done, the wheel produces better and stronger forces. I'll also include how to shorten the throw of the stick shifter, and for the not so faint of heart, how to align the wheel with the cross-hairs in the control panel. It'll also include pictures to make it all easier. Sorry for the inconvenience. Bare with me, the fix is worth it. Slot

A double post. Shoot!! See, this is what happens when you post from work and then can't get on the news server so it goes in your out box. Then you forward the post to your home so you can post it from there, but you forget to clear the out box at work. Oh well, I never said I was the brightest candle on the cake. Slot
