GP2: Won't save races.

I've recently re-installed GP2 following an attack of the nostalgias....and also to try some of the zillions of new tracks that have been made available over the years. Naturally I am running it on a much faster system than originally and it is running under Windows 98. No problems exist at all until I try to save a race or season......it boots me back to Windows Desktop. Saving teams and names and car settings causes no probs.....just saving races.
