I have just re-installed GP2 and patched it up for the 99 F1 season. All patching went perfectly but my problem is when racing the graphics in the backround get very blurry during any lateral movement (turning). Is this because of running it on a much faster PC than was available when the game was released (PIII600 w/RIVA TNT2U)? Or perhaps a refresh rate problem since I'm running from within WIN98? I have all of the graphic settings maxed out and everything looks good when running in straight line. I also checked my processor occupancy and usually never gets above 75%. I even did another fresh install with no patches and got the same results. Maybe it's just the way the sim looks, I really don't remember. Thanks, Sal V.

Sal, I, too, have just re-installed GP2, and I've noticed exactly the same thing. I think it's just that we've been spoiled by the graphics in more recent sims! GP2 looked great in 1996 when we had nothing better to compare it to, but unfortunately it's a bit dated now in 2000. IMHO, it's still a great sim and I'm having lots of fun getting reaquainted with it, but I'm really looking forward to its successor, GP3! Speaking of GP2, I've been looking around the Net at all the new add-ons and utilities that have sprung up since I last had GP2 installed a couple of years ago. LOTS of new tracks out there! Rather than spend the time checking out each and every one of them, could someone narrow it down and provide some kind of objective review on which of the user-created tracks are the best? Are there certain creators that have a good reputation for accurate, high-quality, bug-free tracks? Thanks in advance, Rob

> I also checked my > processor occupancy and usually never gets above 75%. REALLY? Did you try this with the standard, or the even heavier-custom tracks? I think it's time to make some more custom tracks, with even MORE scenery then!!

Yup, I think you're right. I'm just too used to what we have today v.s. what we had back then. As you mentioned though it's still very fun to drive and most of all customize. As far as tracks go, I've only installed the 99' TrackPack which adds the missing tracks and updates some of the others. I also put them in the correct order for 99' and installed the missing maps. (over head shots of tracks) The tracks combined with the 99' carset and a few sound files, and I'm ready to run the 99' season all over again! Pretty cool. I also DL's a BTCC car body shape and hope to find some of the BTCC tracks and carsets. Sal V. Rob <[email hidden]> wrote in message news:[email hidden]...

I agree that having a revisit to GP2 has been great. After looking around the tracks available, the folks have done a good job with them. One of favourite non GP track would have to be Bathurst. Absolutely love thrashing around the top and blasting down the esses right on the clacker of another car and then humming down conrod straight flat strap all out speed. Dave.
