Hello,
Does anybody know about anything that might enable the tracks for GP2 to be used in GPL ?
Because with the original tracks in GP2 it would be good, aNd there are HUNDREDS of extra tracks for GP2 which we could use in GPL....
Maybe some code genius could use the track editor available for GP2 (it works fine, even I could make a tracks) and "patch" it to make the GP2 tracks GPL-compatible...
I would BUY this util if it existed....

Not possible, sorry. It's two games developped by two different companies.
Apples and Oranges. A track is not a track is not a track because there is
two racing games on the market, unfortunately.
100% impossible. The only thing (but that won't happen as it takes months
for a -team- of people to create 1 tracK) is to replicate the tracks. Won't
ever happen, be sure of that.

"People think it must be fun to be a super genius, but they don't realise
how hard it is to put up with all the idiots in the world."
I disagree. It must be easier to copy a track from one sim to another than
to create it from scratch.
The coordinates can be extracted, and converted to the correct format for
GPL.
I would not say it is easy, and the result might not be worth the effort ,
but it can definately be done.
It would be worth writing a C program to carry out the conversion just to
see how good or bad the results were.

I didn't follow up how GPL track editing is doing, but one thing is
for sure: Paul Hoad, the man coding the GP2 track editor (with the
help of many trackformat-researchers) has also worked on a GPL editor.
The fact that there is no converter yet, means that it is NOT trivial
at all IMHO.
