Turn 1 Grand Prix Legends has added the 6th of 7 complete make overs for GPL. [link lost in import]
Bill, you have a marvellous site and I bookmarked it over a year ago so it grieves me to have to point out that your Honda layout could be somewhat offensive. You see, the "Rising Sun" graphic has not been used to signify Japan or anything Japanese since the end of World War 2. It is almost akin to using the swastika to signify something German. -- Regards, Bruce Kennewell, Canberra, Australia. --------------------------- Turn 1 Grand Prix Legends has added the 6th of 7 complete make overs for GPL. http://gpl.ga-sports.com/legends.html -----------== Posted via Newsfeeds.Com, Uncensored Usenet News ==---------- http://www.newsfeeds.com The Largest Usenet Servers in the World! ------== Over 73,000 Newsgroups - Including Dedicated Binaries Servers ==-----

Bruce, You're absolutly right. We're not flying in WW2-planes. Although It's good artwork. Keep up the good work, Bill. Greetings Olaf

While it has been banned in the past, it was readopted in 1954 as the Japanese Naval Ensign. The Japanese self-defense forces also use a variation of this same scheme. While you are correct that there is a strong association with WW2 in the public mind, this flag is being flown by Japanese forces today. more info: http://www.crwflags.com/fotw/flags/jp^.html
Fair enough, I'll certainly accept that explanation. However, it is still (as it has always been) classified as a _military_ flag and is used solely by the Naval arm of the Self Defence Force. Therefore it really is inappropriate to use it as a either a background in GPL or as a pointer to the fact that the Honda Motor Company is Japanese. (A more appropriate analogy than my previous one would be using the current German Luftwaffe "Iron Cross" as an emblem for the McLaren-Mercedes, for instance!) -- Regards, Bruce Kennewell, Canberra, Australia. --------------------------- > > Bill, you have a marvellous site and I bookmarked it over a year ago so it > > grieves me to have to point out that your Honda layout could be somewhat > > offensive. > > You see, the "Rising Sun" graphic has not been used to signify Japan or > > anything Japanese since the end of World War 2.
