Chris its because Scott does not think its a Sim. Dave
Your kidding? Man its very much a sim! Not arcadish at all. The more i play it, the more i like its handling better than N3 or GPL in some areas. SCGT shouldve been there, if more people actually played the full version, they would see its a very very good racing game. To overlook it, would be missing out on a MUST HAVE game. PassedYa

In the opinion of the website staff, games like Burnout and NHRA are more worthily as a sim than SCGT. Unfortunate, but hey it's their opinion 8) In my opinion... if they ever want to be a big website, they need to have a much wider view. They should take a peek at the other major simracing websites (thePits, Simracing.com, etc..). They all have SCGT as a simulator. -- -- Fran?ois Mnard <ymenard> -- May the Downforce be with you... "People think it must be fun to be a super genius, but they don't realise how hard it is to put up with all the idiots in the world."
That is not the reason. I love Viper Racing, but notice how it isn't on that list either? When we sat down to decide which sims we would cover, we did so with the 'going forward' thought process. It would have been very, very hard to try and play catch up with so many good sites out there. Burnout and GP500 will probably also come off our list as we cannot find anyone interested in running those sections due to other sites pretty much offering the service for those titles and the community for those sims are somewhat limited. With GPL, we decided to do so because we had some individuals, including myself, who are very intersted in running the page and GPL is THE sim to date. SCGT is extremely well covered by GTInsider and a few other sites and you are correct in that I personally have no intersest, nor time, in running such a page and we have had no offers of significance to change such. However, if anyone wishes to announce patches, add-ons, leagues, etc and want us to place a link to them on our new section, we are more than happy to do so. The only titles we avoid are games like Need For Speed, test drive, LeMans <G>, and other such arcade titles. Those are not the type of titles we wish to cover. We wish to cover racing simulations only. Again, that is NOT the reason behind not covering SCGT. Thanks, Scott PA-Scott -- Scott B. Chris, there is no real reason we do not cover this sim other than we just dont<G> When we started PowerSims we agreed to cover "racing sims" and started out filling the pages of the more popular sims we listed. Slowly we are filling those pages, mainly N3, DTR, Legends and GPL at the moment. We will be removing some of the sims from the sidebar also like the NHRA title mainly because there is little to no interest in them. If there is enough interest in SCGT we would be happy to cover it however to date we have never been questioned why we dont cover it other than this thread. So if someone here would like to step up and offer some time in To be honest with you we still consider PowerSims to be in a pre-release format. This is why we have not implemented any META info or submitted to any search engines as of yet. Once we get full content for the listed sims we hope to add even more titles and sections that may include titles like Viper Racing and a few others. On the other hand it looks like the year 2000 is going to keep us very busy with all the promising releases that are scheduled. Keep the feedback coming as we learn from our site visitors and do what we can to continue to improve the PowerSims site. -- Mike Schmidt aka Acrotech Sales & Marketing Officer MMMGI http://www.mmmgi.com http://www.internetmotorsports.net http://www.powersims.com http://www.acrotech.net >Seeing as SCGT is one of the most talked about sims in RAS, isn't it a bit >surprising that it is not even mentioned at www.powersims.com? >Chris
OK... I know this has nothing to do with sim racing per se, but I found a picture of the Vigara-sponsored NASCAR Grand Prix on Jayski's site and thought some of you might be amused by it since the topic 'came up' in this group a little while ago. http://www.jayski.com/schemes/2000/27viagra.jpg ~daxe "I have no need for this...yet" rexford -----------== Posted via Newsfeeds.Com, Uncensored Usenet News ==---------- http://www.newsfeeds.com The Largest Usenet Servers in the World! ------== Over 73,000 Newsgroups - Including Dedicated Binaries Servers ==-----
I dont think anyone on the PowerSims staff has said that in their opinion SCGT is not a sim nor have we ever placed any single sim higher on our list of importance over any other sim...PERIOD. Frank, please stop trying to read other peoples minds, you may be a super "genius" but your not a mind reader. Your statement could not be any further from the truth. As for Burnout we are working on changing that section over to the newer version which seems to have a large following. That is one title where the racers from that community have been in contact with us offering information. Since I dont play Burnout I was not 100% sure what the following was, but it does seem to be large with the newest version ( I cant think of the title of the top of my head right now..... think its NIRA) Our goal is not to be a "big site" what ever that means?? Our goal is to offer the content our visitors want to see and to provide unique content and articles of interest to the sim racers. Please read my reply above. The sites you mention have sections for SCGT but there seems to me little content for it. I have looked at a lot of sites that list SCGT and there really does seem to be a lack of coverage for it. I dont like to do anything "half assed" per say but IMHO PowerSims is currently in that stage since we have so much content still missing. We are working as hard and fast as we can to get it all posted and I dont want to start adding more sims to our list if we cant give them the attention they need. We hope by the end of February to be caught up and organized in such a way that we can continue to expand on our list of coverage. -- Mike Schmidt aka Acrotech Sales & Marketing Officer MMMGI http://www.mmmgi.com http://www.internetmotorsports.net http://www.powersims.com http://www.acrotech.net

Mike not to defend Frank, but Scott openly said the game SCGT is not a sim. Additionally some of his reasoning to me was not correct since he said he never drove any of the SCGTs GT2 or GT3 cars but then said they handled nothing like the SCCA Club racing spec GT1 car he has driven. But to set it straight Scott said in a post on RAS that SCGT is not a sim in his mind. Not reading minds just reading posts. Dave
Just to correct your post David, I never said I have never raced SCGTs GT2 or GT3. I simply said I have never raced them... as in for real racing in the SCCA. Quote from my above post: "Just to clear it up... I never said I expected it to handle like GPL. All I said was I have driven a GT-1, and the GT-1 in SportsCar GT does NOT handle like the GT-1 I raced. I would not expect it to 'feel' like a 1967 F1 car, but if its a 'sim', I would expect it to handle more like a GT-1 than I feel it does currently. Ive never driven a GT-3 Porche or any other 3 so I cant speak for those in terms of personal experience. Maybe we can get Tom Pabst to comment since I believe he has raced in numerous divisions of sports car racing." I also said that I thought SCGT was in between arcade and sim in the physics category. I stand by MY opinion. I also quote from my above post: "Im going to get flamed to hell for this... but Im use to it <G> I, personally, feel SCGT is somewhere in between. The patches that the parties out there created definitely improved SCGT. As released.... it was pure arcade. Now, though better, I put it somewhere in between. SCGT was close to being a great sim, but didn't quite get there in the physics category." If you will also read my post above you will see why SCGT is not included on PowerSims.com which is also reiterated by Mike. He had nothing to do with my personal opinion of the title. I do not mind justifying my opinions, but please make sure the facts are correct as well as the context when identifying what I said. Im sure you just misunderstood the part about driving the GT2 and GT3s. Thanks, Scott PA-Scott -- Scott B. Scott, Sorry about that I misunderstood what you ment there on the GT3 cars, my mistake. Dave

<snip> Sorry Mike as some of us misunderstood Scott's comment on a previous thread about SCGT. And never, ever think that a signature file is something serious. Just a joke. (and yes NIRA was the last title released by Bethesda about drag racing). I wonder if their new title (the Skip Barber school) will stop using the old DOS game engine ? <snip good arguments> >We hope by We do hope. WEll i run into alot of road race lover that have never heard or tried SCGT. I just recently tried it after they released some updates and tons of new Modification (IE:cars/dashed/sounds/tracks) and found that i really like the road racing aspect for a change of pace. If you skipped this SIM, please get it and try it out. You wont be sorry. PassedYa

RC2000 isn't mentioned there at all either. At High Gear, over 2,000 people have voted on the car sim of 1999, and RC2000 is way out in front with 38% of the vote. SCGT is second with 15%. David G Fisher
opinion... if they ever want to be a big website, they need to have a I agree with "Frank". Without SCGT and especially RC2000, there's no reason for me to visit your site. David G Fisher
David, This was hashed out here already. We did not consider Rally Championship 2000 for SOY because it was not released here in the US yet and none of the staff had even tried it other than the Demo, which Im sure nobody would find it fair to vote on <VBG> I know you can find it online for the UK version, but none of us had done so and we have received noemail from anyone interested in doing so to date. Once its released here in the US and we find somebody(s) that is interested in running the pages, we will add RC2000 as one of our pages. We are still absorbing and adjusting the sims we will cover at PowerSims.com. Technically, PowerSims.com is still in "BETA" as it is part of the IMN (Internet Motorsports Network) which we hope to launch in the next few months. However, being sim fanatics, we launched the site early to get things rolling and because we truly enjoy doing it. Thanks. -- Scott B.
