I downloaded the US 1.2 patch for GPL -- thinking this was the same country version I had downloaded for patch 1.1 all those months ago -- and on attempted installation a screen flashed up telling me it could not upgrade the gpl.exe file for this version. Which one should I be using for Australia? Steve Smith Melbourne, Australia

If you have the 'CD in the drive' copy protection it's most likely the UK version. Eric
The US version is the one you need for the version released in Australia.
Steve, it completely depends upon which version of the original game you own. Some Aussie retailers received stocks from the USA, others from Britain. -- Regards, Bruce Kennewell, Canberra, Australia. --------------------------- -----------== Posted via Newsfeeds.Com, Uncensored Usenet News ==---------- http://www.newsfeeds.com The Largest Usenet Servers in the World! ------== Over 73,000 Newsgroups - Including Dedicated Binaries Servers ==-----
Depends on the source of his original package, Ian. You might find it's got nothing to do with what version it is. I had the unofficial 1.1 patch and had to replace it with the gpl.exe off the CD and then run the 1.2 patch. And then I installed Dx7a and now the damn game won`t start ,but thats another story. Cheers Adam Moore

Hi Steve, I'm in Melbourne too. I had the same problem, but the US patch is the correct one. What I discovered was that after I had patched the game with GPL Season to change names etc., I couldn't apply the 1.2 patch. I copied over gpl.exe using the original from the cd, then ran the US 1.2 patch. Worked like a charm. The only snag is you'll have to redo any customisation you may have done. Gidday, Glenn

Yep, I finally figured it out. The UK patch I tried was a disaster, it told me to put the GPL CD-ROM in the drive -- even when it's already there. Deleting gpl.exe 1.1, replacing with the original, and running the executable US patch 1.2 is the way to go. So why couldn't they have said that on the web site...? Regards Steve
