This e-mail was sent to PC Gamer, in response to an article writen by a columnist. Made me smile ;) _________________________________________________________________________ I was reading Andy Mahood's column in the February edition. What's this deal about the French hate emotion? It's not the first time I read something about this in a PC mag. As a French-Canadian, I'm kinda disappointed in that type of approach. Yes, I agree, the French (from France as opposed to Canada) are a bit snobbish, but they're not that bad. (I'm sure the American feel the same way about the English). Mr. Mahood didn't do proper research on his subject matter either. Regarding the purchase of Sierra by Havas: it hasn't stopped Papyrus from planning on doing yet another NASCAR racing game. Correct me if I'm wrong: part of the programming for Ubisoft's Monaco Grand Prix racing sim was done in Montreal, Canada. Are we to be included in those remarks too? Also, that game received very good scoring from various PC mags. Is that supposed to represent a trashy product? I must forget that F1 is not that popular in the US, but there are other racing series other than NASCAR (note: I do like NASCAR myself, but am opened to other games). My point: cultural difference is actually good. If it would have been the other way around (American buying French companies), the issue would not have been raised. Wake up! Maybe American companies are being bought for a reason (other than that silly ***). The US are not the center of the world. Other interesting fact: Papyrus has "sub-contracted" track graphics to a Russian team. Kinda funny considering such a thing would have been heresy say 20 years ago (during the Cold War). Yet, you have a quality product and the tracks look good (although no Russian on that team has ever seen an actual NASCAR track). As far as I'm concerned, it doesn't matter who designs/produce/sell the game: if the game is good, I'll buy it. Amicalement, Philippe Sergerie p.s.: rptez aprs moi: le France et le fran?ais sont merveilleux. Est-ce si difficile? ;) Translation: french mind control technique.
Gee, I thought Mahood was kidding, a satire. This e-mail was sent to PC Gamer, in response to an article writen by a columnist. As a french I can only smile about this. Maybe a french company bought an american company... But, when we buy something from america we buy the ONLY company that makes the ONLY (or BEST) racing sim. On the other end I would like to remind you that GUILLEMOT, INFOGRAMES and UBI SOFT are french software companies, so we don't have to buy american ones to make good games. Regarding the fact about french being a bit snobbish toward our canadian brothers or cousins I think a lot of it is explained because we tend to make fun (I admit it openly) of the canadian accent, for you english speaking people I think you would make a bit of fun with a scottish accent or australian one. But we can't be called snobbish because the people we are making the most fun of is ourselves. We don't have this american "we are the best" attitude which CAN be so funny to us outsiders, the best example is all this PURITANICAL shit in the US, all this Clinton-Lewinski crap....ha ha ha. To show you how we deal with this kind of story in France our last president, Mitterand who died after 14 years of office had his illegitimate daughter coming at his state funeral, with her mother, and they all sttod together with the "real" family, after all WHO CARES if Clinton ***s somebody else than his wife if the country is doing fine, or if it doesn't impair his work, Clinton's JOB is to run the country properly, which he does quite ok, what he does in his free time is a metter for HIM and HIS WIFE. This being said let's go back to REALLY IMPORTANT ISSUES.... When will GPL2 be created ? As a french Maybe I'll have inside info....ha ha ha. Bye

>(SNIP) after all WHO CARES if = >Clinton ***s somebody else than his wife if the country is doing fine, = >or if it doesn't impair his work, Clinton's JOB is to run the country = >properly, which he does quite ok, what he does in his free time is a = >metter for HIM and HIS WIFE. Very few people care about the actual F-ing around part. However, when the leader of a country lies under oath in order to obstruct justice and extract himself from legal difficulty, that's a whole different thing. Don McCorkle Vote Libertarian

I see and respect your point. However if Clinton (and I'm no fan of his) must lie on this it is beacuase the american society is so hypocritical on *** issues taht if he would say "Okay, I did it, but who hasn't ?" he would be DEAD, remember the dukakis story where the guy has to resign from the presidency race because he screwed his secretary ages before that ? And then all his family is crying on TV and you've got some *** TV-PRIEST (Them I REALLLY hate) who comes and tells you that he has sinned and all this crap... With all due respect to the US members of this group don't you think you tend to be a bit extreme on ***/religious issues ? In which other civilized country do you have doctors thatare being KILLED because they do *** ? By people who love life SO MUCH that they have to KILL (See the logic ? I don't) other people... Besides that I just heard GP3 is pushed back at least 1 month...at that REALLY annoys me.
Actually, Clinton must lie on this and everything else. All the man can do is le, lie, lie..... I see and respect your point. >However if Clinton (and I'm no fan of his) must lie on this it is = >beacuase the american society is so hypocritical on *** issues taht = >if he would say "Okay, I did it, but who hasn't ?" he would be DEAD, = For one thing, I haven't. More to the point, if he had just admitted to fooling around with Lewinsky straight away, it would have died right there. There is nothing illegal about it, and he's already the President what's anyone going to do? There would have been no expansion of Ken Starr's investigation to include this matter. We never would have known about the oral-***sex, the ***sex while talking to Congressmen on the phone, Monica waiting for him in the oval office while he was at church with his wife on Easter Sunday..... Agreed, these are three MAJOR tragedies: TV evangelists (religion in general) Right wing whackos (any extremist) GP3 delayed (SofS, LeMans, Trans Am turns into The Dukes of Hazard) Don McCorkle Vote Libertarian Pro-Choice on everything

Geez, no wonder why the world laughs at us. Our own people don't know the laws and how they work. President Clinton was impeached for "Lying under sworn testimony" and "Interfering in (read as an attempted coverup) in a police matter (Paula)." We have no laws against ***ery unless you are active as USA military personnel. Our military laws are much harsher than the civilian laws and they do cover immorality.
